A balanced and reasonable response....imprisonment would hardly make the accuser's life worse, though I must say a felony conviction would at least remove her from the voter rolls.
For the supposed 'grown-ups' in this mess, like Nifong, and Duke, one can only fell utter contempt.

Additionally, a judgement entered against her might help to ensure that she does not profit from this episode.

I might add that a conviction might get social services to take away her children and maybe, just maybe, put them someplace where they won't grow up like her.
