...Close friends of Fred Thompson say his wife Jeri is urging him to take the plunge later this year and run for the Republican presidential nomination.

The former senator from Tennessee and current actor on "Law & Order," in private conversation, makes it clear that he is seriously interested in launching a candidacy that has attracted extraordinary attention over the last two weeks. However, he does not plan to announce his candidacy in the immediate future.

The major rap against Thompson is that he was not a hard worker during his eight years in the Senate. His friends respond that this is an easily correctable error and that the same complaint was made about Ronald Reagan before he ran for president...

Her slightly skewed smile reminds me of Dick Cheney.

Bottom line Phil:

Confidential sources are entitled to nothing if the information they provide perpetuates illegality, injustice, or deception contrary to the public good.

As for the public "not knowing anything", what do you call the current state of affairs? The public is fed whatever the MSM wants them to know and believe.

And for that matter since other people at the Justice Dept. already knew for up to three months it was Armitage why didn't one of them do anything?

Ask them Phil, and get back to us, ok?

Novak is a RINO-faux-journalist who has not an ounce of integrity.

Yes, Novak's unnamed sources usually aren't to be trusted.

That said, in this case I'm betting he has it right.

If so, it only demonstrates that old saying about a broken clock being right twice a day.

Thanks for finding the photo. His wife Jeri (Jen?) is easy on the eyes.

That is NOT true. They do not have to take Law and Order eps off the air. In fact, when Arnold announced his run for governor, the increased the number of times his movies ran on television purely for the exposure.

They have to take all the FRED Thompson episodes off....I recently retired from the TV industry and I know this well.

Have you already forgotten how they took all the old Reagan movies off the air during his campaigns?

I have had several good friends have to give up their on-the-air jobs to run for political office.

Update: The producers of Law & Order are already making plans to do just what I mentioned, when (and if) the time comes. Can't blame them for planning ahead as it will be tough for them to work around the loss of his talent, at least for a while.

Ted Kennedy was such a hard worker in the Senate he got everything accomplished in one year, and used the remaining 29 years to celebrate. Maryjo would applaud his selfless efforts if she could.

I thought some historian here would retort with a picture of Martha Washington or other of the fashionable first ladies of the first 100 years in the White house. Perhaps Jeri will hang in President's Hall looking more First Lady than the most recent First Ladies. Joy to you all, A repentant Ms. Harridan

That's a better photo than I found.

From my calculations, Fred is now 65 and Jeri is now 41. She has the benefit of her youth to run the White House. She also has a political background as a political and media consultant.

I was 11 when Reagan took office.

Please cite a source for what you claim. I'd like to read more about it.
