Apparently Hagel thinks that to threaten to veto a bill is tantamount to ignoring congress and grounds for impeachment. I wonder if there has been a single president that hasn't threatened to veto a bill at some point during their presidency. Guess Hagel thinks vetos are unconstitutional...That, or he's an idiot. My money is on the latter.

Nebraska is farm country. Hagel brings home the bacon, just like Charles Grassley, the new senator from ADM.

Hagel is also pro illegal and most people are against it, but this is not an issue with this village idiot.

I would think impeachment would have more of a chance when the POTUS refuses to enforse the Constitution.

Hagel is an idiot.

Go ahead, impeach the President! Love to take the stress off the President. And, there is a very nice ring to President Cheney.

But... but... but.... Chucky has an (R) next to his name.

A few fellow FReepers believe that all (R)s are good guys, and we should worship all (R)s.

I saw evidence of this thinking last night on another thread. I don't understand blind, unrealistic, loyalty to a person just because of the name tag he's wearing.

Chucky I and Chucky II (Hagel/Schumer) turn my stomach.

Excuse me, but the Senate doesn't have the power to impeach.

Yeah, that's a great point. We shouldn't forget that.

Nebraska needs to get its boot on. This guy ain't for real. Hagel is way, way out there and there's a genuine cause for concern here. This man cannot possibly be representing the consensus of his state. This is something very personal with him and I'd like to know why. Politicians are getting away with this garbage I'm sick of it.

He's flirting with a presidential run in '08 and he can't possibly believe that his position on Iraq and everything else, including this phoney feud he's got with a sitting President in very dangerous times will endear him to the party faithful.

This guy intends to play the spoiler and nothing else. Beware, Nebraska.

Is there a strong muslim/liberal/hate America crowd in Nebraska?

I don't think there is a Nebraska link but there have been rumors about the source of some of Hagel's campaign funds. Google "Sandhills Political Action Committee + Alamoudi" to find some interesting stuff.

but a Pub Senator pushing impeachment for a Republican President, this isn't good !!!

The fact that the Senator doing so is Chuck Hagel, means that the President does not have a thing to worry about.

Hagel is a mad man.

I think it more accurate that Hagel is an ambitious man, without the judgment to realize his ambitions. Having said that, his need for attention causes him all to often to indulge in a circus act routine, with him playing role of the clown. I am sure Hagel would disagree with my uncharitable characterization, and perhaps I am being too harsh.

I don't know Suzi. The libs in this country feed off any crack in the wall Republicans and Conservatives give them and having a Republican Senator suggesting something like this is just another gain for their side !!!

Why don't he just join the dems or the commies and get it over with?

Where do you get President Cheney? If they impeached the President he would still be in power. That is, unless the Senate voted to remove him which is unlikely.

"Excuse me, but the Senate doesn't have the power to impeach"

True, but they have the power to convict.

I also don't understand how Nebraska keeps him in office?

After this, in his next run for reelection, assuming he has the guts to make one, Cornhuskers may turn him out on his ass, trouble is then you might end up with an Exon like Dem.

Is there a strong muslim/liberal/hate America crowd in Nebraska?

I don't think so. At least I've never noticed one outside of very small enclaves in Lincoln and Omaha.

Nebraska does have a long record of ticket splitting. In my years, most of it now observing from Texas, I've seen Republican governors at the same time as Democrat Senators, and vice versa. The current situation, with one R and one D Senator is pretty common.

'..Republican Senatorial Committee wants me to send money..'

Each time I receive calls from RNC, Senatorial Committee, Presidential Victory Committee, etc. I tell them I will give no more "blanket" contributions and the RNC needs to let the Republican Senators know that their disgraceful behavior is hurting the RNC financially. When they put our country and our troops before their selfish political agendas/egos, I'll consider contributing once again.

Chuck Hagel is probably as popular in Nebraska as Bob Kerrey was right before the end.
