Blind Brian Visser, 13, who was kicked off a Calgary Transit bus, holds up his official Canadian National Institute for the Blind identification card that not only proves he is legally blind but gives him authority to ride free on any public transit. (STUART DRYDEN/SUN MEDIA

So they are really going down hill in Calgary. First, they were kicking people off the bus for
smelling good, now it is blind children.

What an Ass. Kicking a blind kid off a bus. Who cares if his card is valid?

I surprised to find that here in the US legally blind people under certain conditions can get a drivers license and they will still get them tomorrow too..

What I like to know is what did the other passengers on the bus do while this was happening, just sit there and ignore it...now that's pathetic.

Just because the kid is "legally blind" which doesn't necessarily mean literally blind, why should he have a card allowing him to ride free? He's a kid. His parents are responsible for his care. That includes providing funds for his transportation. No indication his parents merit any freebie.
ON the face of it , it seems a tad harsh to bounce the kid off the bus but we don't know what transpired. We don't know what the kid said or did. We don't know if he was requested to pay and refused. We only have the version from a woman who will most likely pursue the lawsuit lottery and get someone fired regardless of what actually happened.

Why are trivial stories like this considered "news"?
To: Clive
Blind Brian Visser,The story is sad enough, but why do the parents name the kid Blind Brian?

Get a message to Linda Visser. Tell her to sue the union responsible for the transit employees', completely out of business.
