Oh, man, I just shot Marvin in the face!

To those that don't know Savage or listen to him, he claims to be an "independent conservative"... He surely does espouse some conservative views, but the vile he spews towards Bush, his cabinet, and other Republicans and GOPers could be mistaken for Air America trash.
It would be easy to blow him off as another looney blow-hard, but he's the 3rd most listened-to talk show host in the nation... He has over 8 million listeners, and in calling himself a conservative, he DOES have some real influence there. He's supposed to be on our side, but shifts positions so often, he's become a joke. He embodies every lefty criticism of our side.
In listening to parts of his show last night, he has the following things to say, in a short time span...
* Syria isn't nearly as bad as Iran, they can be spoken to, they don't threaten Israel, they are nationalists not fundamentalists
* The war was started to benefit Oil companies.
* Blasted Bush to no end, said Rice should have been fired a long time ago, blasted the rest of the cabinet
* Said it was OK for Pelosi to go talk to Syria
* Asked why is there a division between GOP and Dems, why do we automatically assume everything they do should be hated, etc.
In my view, this scum is far more dangerous than Air America and nearly every lib out there. He's pretending to be a conservative, yet does more damage to our causes than any other non-politician I can think of, because he has the influence to sway people.
This guy is an utter disgrace and a phony.
Savage got his start in SF and spoke to Pelosi a few times when he was just a local — he and Pelosi were on the same side in many issues related to China. SO that relationship goes back about 11 years+, IIRC. It does’nt surprise me that he would cut Pelosi some slack if he believed it was deserved.
He is a soft on communism prig.

I have no problem with someone calling someone else a liar to their face if in fact he is a liar. I, would more politely say “I think you are mistaken” or somesuch unless and until the situation escalated.
I’ve been around awhile, played six years of football and did my tour in the USMC and I don’t believe I’ve ever started a fight. But I’ve never backed down from one either.
BTW, I didn’t adress my comments to you. Also, having good Southern Manners is not being PC.

I was a Savage fan for about a couple of weeks when his show was brought to the market I live in. I ignored a few strange things he would say and gladly listened to more. Then, I heard him lambast Limbaugh relentlessly.
That is when most normal Conservatives would have had warning bells and whistles going off in their heads. I still listen to him because he has yet to be yanked off the air (I'm hoping and praying for it).
Right back at ‘cha.
I read through the pings and the talk show threads daily. They’re posted at different times, so that helps quite a bit.

Sure. I even agree with some of them. I bash Pres. Bush and the ‘pub leadership fairly frequently. Borders, culture, language. I believe this country has been sold out by the open borders and amnesty crowd and this makes a joke of the WOT. It looks like the powers that be (both ‘pubs and dem-o-rats) want something similar to the EU with Mexico and Canada. Trans-Texas corridor anyone? Check out how mexican trucks will pretty much freely move thru the U.S. Think smuggling is bad now? Just wait.
Can you pick up Dennis Miller’s show, even faintly? Trying to find a central TX aff. for his show.

I doubt too many Southerners consider it good manners to take a dump on President Bush.

I never saw any point of harassing people on a talkshow thread because you hate the host.
And I agree with your post too. Just don’t think that History started when Dubya took office. All this stuff was broken when he got there, even though you and I know that he is not fixing it.
Savage is drivetime (5-8p) here in Austin.
