As a conservative republican living in MD I am disgusted by what is happening in our state. O’Malley was a horrendous failure in Baltimore as mayor and now we are saddled with his incompetance and far left agenda for the whole state. It is becoming a very unfriendly small business owner state and social policy is being driven to the far left not to mention what he and the democratically controlled legislature will do with taxes. Looking more and more like it is time to move south.

Ehrlich was no prize, and he was faced with a large demonrat bunch that he could not work with to get anything done. He tried to appease the lefties towards the end of the election, but failed.
Maryland is full of silly liberals and there is not much hope that it will ever change. Montgomery and Prince Georges’ county run the show. I have talked to at least 5 or 6 people that are moving to WV. We are not far behind them.
Well, I’m moving there soon. Got my flame suit on already. We kinda figure we’ll stay a while and eventually flee, either to PA or NC/SC. But I have a great job offer there with good pay, and that’s where my fiance is (she’s in No. VA right now actually) so we’ll work with it!
Here is what really irks me about a large portion of our elected officials. We elect them and then it's like they don't hear our voice after that.
Message to Maryland representatives: Pardon my language, but scr3w the Polls! Anybody and his brother who can log onto a computer can take a poll. They don't even have to be AMERICAN!

There are alot of affluent Democrats who have soaked in the public education and liberal theories esposed in college. I lived in Howard County. It was me and 2 other couples of Republicans in our whole development against everybody lol.

Yep, they put Section 8 housing right next to our development and it took us 8 years to go from negative to a positive return (only aided by the bubble when I sold). Subsidized housing is a total house value killer.
You know I've noticed this as well. This happened in Waldorf with St. Charles. Now no one wants to go there. Now they're working their way down to LaPlata. I live in Western Charles County and people have been fighting development over there for years. Yet, the commissioners and developers are so tight, they're forcing development on us.
Reminds me of how our commissioners put us in Catch-22 situations. They over-develop and when we complain of the traffic, they tell us they need to improve our roads and transportation (which usually means getting money from somewhere) and then once roads are widened they build more homes/businesses. And, we're right back where we started.

Unbelievably, in North Carolina, they’re trying to get a bill passed here that would require that all new developments of housing over a certain number of units would be required to set aside up to 25% of the property for subsidized housing.

Liberals don’t care if things work, as long as the lawmakers “meant well”.
In one party patrician Maryland, they’ve been doing that for years (setting aside %s of subsidized housing). But what they do is sock nearly all of the subsidized stuff in the middle income area of the county. So the people who live in mCmansions don’t really see the lowering of property values like the average homeowner does.

Actually, the proposal is in several locations, but one of the primary ones discussed is in a town called Cary which has many “McMansions”. And specifically the neighborhoods are to be in the upper-class places.
I guess they’ve got theirs and who cares about everyone else?

Fleeing to PA is going from the frying pan to the fire.
We over here in Cecil went for Steele and Ehrlich (with a lot of volunteer help), but all the surrounding counties are not enough to counter the DC area votes.
It seems to me that you and other decent people should emigrate to states where you can enjoy the benefits of their laws (i.e., lower taxes, fewer regulations, concealed carry laws that actually allow you to carry, and the such) and help out with the voting. Virginia and North Carolina, traditional Republican conservative states, are both under siege from Yankee liberals who have moved in. In Virginia it's the infestation in Northern Virginia (that got that state Sen. Webb in the last election) and in North Carolina it's the Triangle.
In other words, give up on a state that can't be turned around and help states that are in danger and which can be turned around.
