Senate & House Coverage -- (April, 2007)
thomas.loc.gov ^ | April, 2007

Posted on 04/09/2007 7:03:04 AM PDT by Mo1

Thank you, OXENinFLA for putting together the below comments and links!

.

Since "Free Republic is an online gathering place for independent, grass-roots conservatism on the web. We're working to roll back decades of governmental largesse, to root out political fraud and corruption, and to champion causes which further conservatism in America.", I and others think it's a good idea to centralize what the goes on in the Senate (or House).

So if you see something happening on the Senate/House floor and you don't want to start a new thread to ask if anyone else just heard what you heard, you can leave a short note on who said what and about what and we will try and find it the next day in THE RECORD. Or if you see a thread that pertains to the Senate, House, or pretty much any GOV'T agency please link your thread here.

If you have any suggestions for this thread please feel free to let us know.

Here's a few helpful links.

C-SPAN what a great thing. Where you can watch or listen live to most Government happenings.

C-SPAN 1 carries the HOUSE.

C-SPAN 2 carries the SENATE.

C-SPAN 3 (most places web only) carries a variety of committee meetings live or other past programming.

OR FEDNET has online feed also.

A great thing about our Government is they make it really easy for the public to research what the Politicians are doing and saying (on the floor anyway).

THOMAS where you can see a RECORD of what Congress is doing each day. You can also search/read a verbatim text of what each Congressmen/women or Senator has said on the floor or submitted 'for the record.' [This is where the real juicy stuff can be found.]

Also found at Thomas are Monthly Calendars for the Senate ,

Senate Republicans and Senate Democrats

And Monthly Calendars for the House and Roll Call Votes can be found here.

Fox has on Tammy Bruce and Bob Beckel to talk about Hoyer and Pelosi.

Beckel just doesn’t see anything wrong with Hoyer meeting with “The Brotherhood”...”this is the GOP making a bunch of noise”...

It is AMAZING how they rationalize this stuff!!!!

Bruce: This shows that the Dem Party doesn’t mind meeting with terrorists....of course they know what the Muslim Brotherhood is...and it legitimizes them.

Oh..dear...Tammy said we have a “government now that has no vision for the future the dems and the Republicans..”

GGGGGRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR

Beckel thinks that Bush is hoping the “tooth fairy” would meet with Iran and Syria and the MB. EVEN AL-QUEDA!!!

Beckel would negotiate with al-queda....

WHY did Tammy have to say that THIS administration has no vision for the future???? If she hadn’t said that, it would have been okay..but she cheapens her points by saying that.

If Bush is guilty of anything about foreign policy, one MIGHT say he has too MUCH vision for the idiot people to understand!!!

Happily, when I saw Beckel, I hit the mute button so I was spared the whole thing.

Beckel looked very animated at one point.

He is so excited about this coup d’etat...as Jeb Babbin put it.

In fact, I just get this sense from ALL of the libs that they are not going to be able to make it to Jan. 2009...they are SO SURE that the take over of this country is going to happen...

And their vision of HEAVEN is coming...they are going berserk.

I was watching the repeat of Fox News Sunday last night..and even Mara Liasson is getting cocky...UGH!!

This administration has always looked at the long term and the President has stated so in many of his speeches

If people want to be ignorant of the facts, make things up and spread lies .. I’m not sure what else can be done .. especially when so many will not listen

How the Dems plan to make a peace deal with terrorists is beyond me

Who are the Dems going to sacrifice and give to them in return .. the Jews??? .. they already gave them the blacks in Africa/Sudan/Rwanda?? .. who will be next after that??

Just how many people are the liberals going to sacrifice so they can be friends with the terrorists???

I am hearing Major on with Laura right now...

He is all excited that “this goes all the way to the President”...the US Attorney case...and he and Laura are “tut-tutting”..

One question: Who CARES???

Does Pres. Bush NOT have that right??

Major is sounding like this is gonna take Bush down...

He is saying that his sources are telling him “everything in the Administration is like amateur hour..they don’t know what is going on”

I gotta say....doesn’t that show that they aren’t lying and corrupt??? They aren’t EXPERTS at lying and getting out of “scrapes”!! right??

Major is just way to much of a Dem cheerleader.

Major is sounding like this is gonna take Bush down...

Heres a question for Major

Why are they (Dems) trying harder to take down the President instead of the terrorists ??

Why are they (Dems) more willing to talk with the terrorists then they are the President ??

Why are they (Dems) traveling across the globe to have meetings and talks with terrorists and their supporters .. but they won't go across town and work on peace with the President???

I thought he was going to have trouble catching his breath, he was so excited. Laura is just an Eastern elitist who get a few things right.

So few of them actually work, sleuth. They have “staff.” Coburn works, and Gingrey in the House, and Sessions’ people. Jon Kyl masters the subject matter. They are few and far between. For the most part, we are ill served. Sometimes you and I and Mo1 know more about what is in the legislation than they do...and mostly they don’t care.

Yes...you are right.

That speech Sessions gave on the Senate floor about a year ago about the Senators being told in the cloakroom how to vote by their aides was a real eye-opener.

Good morning ladies.

Mo-—I know you have the kiddos home..so you might not be able to watch the Senate this week...which is probably a good thing...LOL

Bah...Reid opened the Senate with his normal litany of complaints about how awful everything is in the world..and how it is all Bush’s fault...but THEY will fix it.

Craig Thomas stood up for the GOP..and mentioned it has been 61 days since Bush asked for the money for the troops..but they can’t even work on it because Pelosi refuses to bring the House back..even though our troops do NOT get a weeks vacation...

Then, TA DA....Sen. Bennett stood up and read excerpts from the WaPO editorial against Nancy Pelosi..and said he was going to talk about the economy...but that Pelsoi’s “shadow” foreign policy trip was too important and “needs to be talked about”...LOL YAY!!!

Cornyn then got up and said he concurred with Bennett about Pelosi..and then talked again about the war supplemental...and how the HOUSE is letting down the troops.

On C-span...there is that stupid debate between Gingrich and jon f’n carry...

It took about 5 minutes of watching carry’s tongue darting out of his mouth to make me physically ill...so I have NO idea how that is going.

Harry Reid did say they were going to be talking about federal funding of ESC research today...they are in a quorum call.

Thanks, sleuth. I didn’t even realize they were back. The only thing happening in the world has to do with Don Imus...oh, and Anna Nicole Smith’s baby maker.

Mary Landrieu is talking about a coach who died (I don’t follow sports) and for once is not asking for more money, although she may slip it in.

I am assuming that one of our favorites...Sen.Coburn should be a big player during this stem cell debate.

On the DARK side...Harkin and Kennedy will be big players...oh ugh.
