Thread 4
Since the attacks of Sept. 11, 2001, our nation has fought a global war against violent extremists who use terrorism as their weapon of choice, and who seek to destroy our free way of life. Our enemies seek weapons of mass destruction and, if they are successful, will likely attempt to use them in their conflict with free people everywhere. Currently, the struggle is centered in Iraq and Afghanistan, but we will need to be prepared and arranged to successfully defend our nation and its interests around the globe for years to come. DOD
Our enemies include all the Muslims who dream of knocking Western Civilization off its perch atop humanityâs dung heap. Islam is fractured into any number of sects, tribes and ethnic groups, but the dream of destroying us cuts across all the fault lines. Islamic terrorists are merely the tip of a very large spear.
J. Peter Mulhern, the American Thinker, September 18
The determination behind that fight is real, the hatred is real, and the excuses for doing this are very real in the minds of those who have decided to walk that path. We can respond in two ways: Try to ignore or negotiate with people who do not want to negotiate in good faith, because what they want is our destruction, or to stand up against the darkness of those who see all of us, our way of life, our culture and our aspirations as something worth eliminating.
Either: "And God willing, with the force of God behind it, we shall soon experience a world without the United States and Zionism," Mahmoud Ahmadinejad
Or: "With vigilance, determination, courage, we will defeat the enemies of freedom, and we will leave behind a more peaceful world for our children and our grandchildren." GW Bush.
Here's where I will post news and info about the Long War. Let me know if you're interested.

The VISTA control panel is terrible thing. I don't mess with my control panel and I hope it don't mess with me.
Ain’t doing VISTA no way no how!!! not until service pack 2 at least..
Anybody up yet?
VISTA ain’t so bad once you blow away the factory pre-load and re-install from your backup disk.
” Anybody up yet? “
Good morning, Workerbee...
Just ‘punching in’ for now — gotta get some caffiene in me — at least enough for the letters on the screen to stop running together......
LOL -Good morning Ike.
Good morning (again) Workerbee...
‘twixt watching FNC for some two hours, and reading the headlines deemed appropriate - important enough - for the FR main board, I find that everything I have to say is summed up in my tagline......
It’s not often that I see such a case of collective myopia, denial, and just plain banality....
Nero and his fiddle got nothin’ on the American consciousness......
I still have to believe that if most Americans could be shown that they are being played like said fiddle, they would be angered.
” I still have to believe that if most Americans could be shown that they are being played like said fiddle, they would be angered. “
I’d like to agree with you - I really would...
Unfortunately, I have reached the dismal conclusion that the majority of us *want* to be “kept in the dark and fed bullsh[t”, because it’s just too *hard* to face the dark truth.....
(Case in point — on the Cavuto rerun this morning, Neil was holding forth in defense of high gas prices, and he said, “Yes, gas prices have been going up, but baked-goods prices have been going up all along, too, and you don’t hear me complaining...” -—— “MAKE THE CONNECTION, CAVUTO!!” was what I was literally screaming at the TV... I get so frustrated, sometimes..... )
;~)
hmmmm - mushrooms :)
You know I have never tried that with XP,but if it works with VISTA it should work with XP too... thanks for the tip.
Hope you are feeling better this week..
FNC showing ‘live’ video of Hamas/Fatah fighting in Gaza AND West Bank.....
Reporterette saying that this could be the start of unrestricted civil war....
Back to regularly scheduled nonsense......
Maybe it's time to reopen the office?
” Maybe it’s time to reopen the office? “
A few of us have been keeping the lights on all along — against the day that the usual suspects would be coming back when events warrant.....
;~)
” that the usual suspects would be coming back when events warrant..... “
Right about now, I’m missing Knitting’s news sources — those of us (bandwidth challenged) who are stuck with cable ‘news’ and FR are pretty well flying blind, seeing vague shapes through the fog.....
An added bonus with doing a reinstall, is that you don’t get all of the “Trial Software” they give you.
Still here.
Still paying attention.
Still mostly just watching and listening.
........saves on running back to refuel and rearm. (Big grin)
