"I've had a shotgun sitting in my closet for the past 10 years or so, and it's never once spontaneously fired. "

Don't tell them if you place them in an SUV, or the odds will just multiply astronomically and cause all liberals to go into hysterics. ;^)

Ryan Clark was the resident assistant who tried to break up the fight, so tragic.

Was set to graduate with three degrees.

I love some reporter deciding on his/her own to ascribe a motive to why the guy shot himself in the head. It’s another example of what’s become an absolute orgy of second-guessing about this incident.

Just surmising here, but I’d guess the actual motive for shooting himself in the head was that the guy wanted himself dead. But that doesn’t drive any conspiracies or hype the story in any way, so we probably won’t hear that point of view.

I still think that scanner catch about the police asking about a Mohammed something or other is very interesting.

Where's that post?

"Consider that the office WAS busy at the time and didn’t need someone claiming to be an FBI agent asking the bleeding obvious."

I saw this interview on Fox. The former FBI agent was a parent of a student, and I found her behaviour HIGHLY INAPPROPRIATE in this situation. If she was a former FBI agent, she got her face on FNC by about 2:00 this afternoon. She said that she told her own daughter to consider herself locked down, after the first shooting this morning, and she said that she was just sorry that all the students there couldn't have the benefit of her expertise. Extremely critical of the Administration right out of the box.

She came off to me as a Valarie Plame type.

Clueless liberal contentions are . . . not remotely favored. and We don't take kindly to that...

You certainly have an affinity for melodrama.

I see 9 major parking lot complexes around the perimeter of the campus.

The school grounds are quite vast.
Something like 2500 acres.

It will be easier to ID him if he was a student. A fellow student or a professor may recognise him by a tatoo, jewelry, clothing, etc.

If he was not a student it could be very difficult to ID him, especially if he shot himself in the face.

"Exactly...this guy was loaded with ammo...obviously, his intention was to kill many."

You are correct...it doesn’t pass the smell test.

Yeah, it's just...odd. As you'd expect a psychopathic crime to be. He didn't panic after the killing and gun down a cop ala Oswald, he got exponentially deadlier. My gut instinct is that the first two were for Honor, the dozens of others for Allah.

If I'm writing a novel, I have this guy as part of a cell that's supposed to hit universities. He came in undocumented (thus no fingerprints) and is living American Large the way Atta and the rest were, even gets involved with a girl...then she cheats on him and he does and honor killing. Knowing that the police will be on to him sooner or later, he puts Operation Phi Beta Jihad into action, gets whatever weapons and gear he had handy, kills as many as he can, and then and kills himself both to keep from being interrogated.

I'm sure the truth will be weirder than any fiction I can imagine.

I heard that news on MSNBC. They said he shot himself in the face, which made identification more difficult...which stands to reason.

Thank you for that little island of rational thought in the middle of an ocean of second-guessing. Prepare now for a tidal wave of abuse from those who “know better”.

Guess what? An FBI woman phoned the school, after first shooting, asked if school was in lockdown and asked if not, why not. They said we are buisy right now and hung up on the FBI woman. This came from FBI interview.

I wonder how recently this agent had been on a college campus? She might could lock down a government building, but not an entire campus, especially that quickly after the event began.

A rationalist version of the divine right of kings.

What??? I don't know how you reach that conclusion and I have to wonder if you even know what you are saying?

The Constitution's sole purpose is to prevent tyranny and protect the rights of individuals. The 'divine right of kings" was exactly what was on the minds of the framers and specifically what they were trying to prevent.

Now I'm sure that the original framers never imagined that 230 years later that someone would walk onto a college campus and use a hand gun he probably bought legally and kill almost 50 people, but I promise you they would apply the same solution, "arm the students".

Laws that forbid the carrying of arms…disarm only those who are neither inclined nor determined to commit crimes…Such laws make things worse for the assaulted and better for the assailants; they serve rather to encourage than to prevent homicides, for an unarmed man may be attacked with greater confidence than an armed man.
