If you’re not an idiot, then you’ve been watching too much TV. Cops are trained to methodically advance on the threat. Tactics are used to minimize the threat to victims and law enforcement alike. It would do no good to turn a tragic situation into a more tragic one. How would you react to the cops charging in “guns ablazin’”, wounding and killing innocents?
Good point. The last report I read was that the second round of shooting lasted only a couple minutes. Two hour gap between the two rounds, not two hours of shooting.
They would only have to shoot the person holding the gun.
They were hiding behind the cars in Columbine.
The pictures I have seen of this tragedy show heavily armed police outside and students carrying other students out to safety.
It’s starting to look like the same reaction as in Columbine.

“Tactics” didn’t minimize the threat or save innocent lives at columbine. Quite the reverse actually, which is the point.
