Giuliani Statement On Virginia Tech Tragedy
JoinRudy2008 ^ | 4/16/07

"On this day of national tragedy, when we lost some of our finest to a senseless act, we stand together as a country to mourn those who lost their lives.

"My thoughts and prayers continue to be with the survivors and the many friends, colleagues and family members of those who perished. May God bless them all."

-Rudy Giuliani

That’s the ideal at the core of that 18th Century idea contained in the Bill of Rights.

Now, the modern day reality is that the supreme court ruled states can regulate guns—and universally they do; I had to jump through hoops to get my carry permit...you, no doubt to carry legally, had to jump through hoops, too.

It’s just the way it is.

Oh, well let me puke in your pocket then.

Either you are an insecure 13 year old or just an insecure loser acting like a 13 year old.

No hoops, just carry. I’ll face a jury any day, after the fact.

I agree with the majority opinion that this tragedy should not be politicized. 33 kids are dead.

Your point is well taken that if just one kid had a 9mm, a bunch of them wouldn’t be dead.

There really isn’t much for a Presidential candidate to say at this point other than:

“This sucks.”

Followed by “I’ll be happy to take any questions now.”

Did you click the link and look at it, to see the statement?

It’s not just that he released a statement, it’s the home page leading to his ‘joinrudy2008’ website.

Tacky, IMO.

Rudy Giuliani’s candidacy has NOTHING to do with this thread. I’m sorry you can’t figure this out.candidate which was copied from the candidate's campaign website. It has everything to do with his campaign, especially because of the atmosphere that he and other liberal anti-gun types have created which has lead to restricting the rights of law-abiding adults from defending themselves.

But of course, we all ought to send our students off to school with loaded firearms in their backpacks. High schoolers and college students alike.

Wouldn't you admit that things would have turned out a lot better if people did?

“Seriously, you know this thread is like throwing chum out to shark-infested waters. You really think those who oppose Rudy’s candidacy were going to stand up for Rudy, considering his gun-control past?”

I was hoping that everybody would have enough decency to avoid politics at this time. But with the people on here, I guess I was being to optimistic. What EVERYBODY should have done is say, “I don’t support Rudy’s presidential bid but I agree with him on this. I join him in praying for the victims”. Again, unfortunately so many on here have no class at all.

“He and the presidential candidates need to let these people mourn. This is all about THEM jumping up and down like yap dogs trying to get attention.”

I disagree. I think they are being heartfelt in offering their sympathy and are trying to offer comfort to the victims.

“Maybe because Rudy has no credibility on the issue?... Besides, Rudy is the last person who should speak about gun-related tragedies.”

LOL. Rudy has a vast amount of credibility in offering sympathy during tragedies. Did you forget about 9/11 which was much worse than this.

I think the point being made here was...Why post a statement from him? What did he have to do with it? If you wanted people to post statements saying, "I join in prayer for these people and their families", then why not just post a statement from yourself saying that you were praying for the students and families?

I guess people are confused as to what would have been the point of posting a statement from someone who had nothing to do with the situation, if it were not to put in a "plug" for that person.

It’s Tuesday morning - 7:32am

I just started scanning this thread and I am horrified by the comments of TommyDale - absolutely horrified.

I simply cannot, and will not participate with those who engage with this vial human in any kind of dialog - political or otherwise.

The time has come to boycott this person - no more dialog - if he posts a comment - ignore him - I beg you.

We give this person credibility and attention when we engage him.

Please stop.

Just sick what I read in the first 50 posts.

Believe me I plan to ignore them. That is why I don’t go on their flame posts. Otherwise this would go on day and night non-stop. Thanks for the words of advice. And hopefully this will be a much quieter day today. All the candidates have canceled their appearances for today.

Sorry if I went off on you a little.

Just the idea of politics getting into yesterday’s horror....

Man - I went nuts when I read that stuff

That’s okay - I completely understand. And the other threads I posted with the statements from the other candidates were just bombarded with statements that were just as vile. Its a shame that heartfelt statements are taken and treated as nothing more than politics. The one time we have unity within the party since before the 2006 election it has to be destroyed. I fear we are doomed sometimes.

“Way to dodge the question.”

In your dreams. Check the thread. I asked a question about Hunter’s position on students carrying guns on campus and instead, got another question in return. That’s what you call “dodging the question”. BTW, what does Hunter think about students carrying guns on campus?

In the future, show the common decency and courtesy to at least ping the person you name in your posts.
