Killer's Note: 'You Caused Me to Do This'
ABC News ^ | 4/17/07

Posted on 04/17/2007 9:51:27 AM PDT by areafiftyone

April 17, 2007 — Cho Seung-Hui, the 23-year-old student who killed 32 people and then himself yesterday, left a long and "disturbing" note in his dorm room at Virginia Tech, say law enforcement sources.

Sources have now described the note, which runs several pages, as beginning in the present tense and then shifting to the past tense. It contains rhetoric explaining Cho's actions and says, "You caused me to do this," the sources told ABC News.

Sources say Cho killed two people in a dorm room, returned to his own dorm room where he re-armed and left the note, then went to a classroom building on the other side of campus. There, he killed 30 more people in four classrooms before shooting himself in the head.

Cho, born in South Korea, was a legal resident alien of the United States. He was a senior at Virginia Tech, majoring in English.

Sources tell ABC News Cho bought his first gun, a Glock 9 millimeter handgun, on March 13; they say he bought his second weapon, a .22 caliber pistol, within the last week. The serial numbers on both guns had been filed off, they said.

Authorities found the receipt for the 9 millimeter handgun in his backpack. They say it also contained two knives and additional ammunition for the two guns.

Legal permanent resident aliens may purchase firearms in the state of Virginia. A resident alien must, however, provide additional identification to prove he or she is a resident of the state.

Sections of chain similar to those used to lock the main doors at Norris Hall, the site of the second shooting that left 31 dead, were also found inside a Virginia Tech dormitory, sources confirmed to ABC News.

You mention the perp was found first u[pon entering the building. I’m still thinking about the phone video and sound the Pakistani student sent out from the outside of the building ... and the louder than the internal shots report which caused him to flinsh and say ‘whoa!’ It is reportedc that Cho shot himself in the back of the head ... I wonder, after he was hit by a SWAT round or was he actually killed by the SWAT sniper and the reason his face was gone was because the sniper took the head shot when it presented? There is much that is still not clear and may never be clarified, but the sound from outside the building is still resounding in my memory.

It was reposted somewhere on FR yesterday & I’ve been looking for it, but haven’t found it yet. Someone posted a link to the posting & someone else reposted what the post said. The Feds had already been in to talk to him about the sale. I think he’s in Roanoke (sp).

Guess the gun guy has electronic video that gets overwritten after 35 days & it was a fluke that the footage hadn’t been overwritten, cuz the sale was exactly 35 days earlier.

I don’t think any of know the precise sequence, but from what I saw, the entry was made by uniformed officers prior to any formal SWAT deployment, so I doubt there was either a sniper involved or a shootout. My guess would be the shooter heard the cavalry coming up the stairs and possibly was low on ammo, and decided to end it before they grabbed him.

I didn’t mean to indicate they found him first. They found him among the victims shortly after they made entry. The point I was making is that he didn’t “run around loose for 8 hours” as some have claimed.

" Still can't rule out the possibility that he's an American jihadi convert."

Did you read the article? He's a psychopath. The girl killed in the AM was not his g/f. Her ex was in some interrogaiton room at the time of the 2nd shooting. The guy was a loner, no friends noted, his English profs turned hin in to the U counseling service, because of his disturbed writing, and the counseling service determined that he was bizarre. He committed arson in the dorm recently and was otherwise noted as committing hostile acts recently.

Islam has nothing to do with it, other than picking up coincidental pieces of lunacy. He could very well have picked up Chistian characters as elements of his psychosis.

The Israeli professor is a true hero.

The MSM will ignore him, since he doesn’t fit into their victimhood paradigm.

Every time something like this happens people speculate. They like to try to figure out the unknowns. If it turns out they are wrong, so what. Maybe it’ll turn out they’re right.

If you don’t like such speculation, what ifs and whys then why are you on this thread taking issue with people that do?

"As I mentioned earlier, the Moby Dick reference would be the most logical explanation given that he was studying English in college,"

In order for the connection to be the MD char, there must be something about that character that fits the elements of his psychosis. Can you describe the MD character and make the connection?

NO he was here since 1992 - he was NOT on a Student visa. He was a permanent resident. That rumor was false.

There have been a lot of false rumors as the MSM trip over each other to outdo the competition. Several Freepers have seen wheels spinning within wheels because certain media outlets that initially reported the "Ismail Ax" moniker, removed the reference from subsequent posts. Maybe, just maybe, they removed the reference to Ismail Ax, not because of PC, but because its not true.

Because it’s fun to make them squirm? :)

Part if it is I hate fear mongers with a passion, and I hate those who hide from the truth or want to create reasons where there are none.

Looks like the RPG “Spellforce” includes a powerful “boss” named Ismail. I have no idea if he wields an axe — isn’t there a 20-year old game fanatic on this site to advise on this?

Quite possible that a search of his computer, his writings, or his books will reveal the source of this. Though I’d prefer he not get too much press coverage so that miserable copycats don’t desire such infamy.

Maybe you’re the one hiding from the truth. How do you know there are no reasons? Are you an insider on this case?
