God wants us to hate like God hates. He hates sin. He hates evil. We are to hate that and other people’s actions that involve that just as much as God does.

I happen to know that there is nothing in the Bible or in the Koran that links Ishmael/Ismail with "AX".
Yes. This new theory is so insane it actually makes the Islam theory seem almost plausible in comparison.
That said, Oldboy was the best damn film of 2004. This should be good for a few DVD rentals, so that's a silver lining.
If you ever hear an explanation for this fact - please ping me with it, would you?

The poses in the two images are similar, and the plot of the movie, “Oldboy,” seems dark enough to merit at least some further study. Following is The Times’s plot summary:
The film centers on a seemingly ordinary businessman, Dae-su (the terrific Choi Min-sik), who, after being mysteriously imprisoned, goes on an extensive, exhausting rampage, seeking answers and all manner of bloody revenge.
In a Times review, Manohla Dargis wrote that the film’s “body count and sadistic violence” mostly appealed to “cult-film aficionados for whom distinctions between high art and low are unknown, unrecognized and certainly unwelcome.”
A Virginia Tech professor, Paul Harrill, alerted us of the similarity between images in the hope that it would shed some light on what led Mr. Cho to kill 32 on Monday before turning the gun on himself

"It is only that I am so hot and dizzy and weak, Mr. Middleton; but I am sure I shall be able to do it presently," said Ishmael apologetically, as he put his hand to his head and looked around himself in perplexity.
"I'll tell you what, the boy is out of his head, Hannah, and it's my belief as he's a going to have a bad illness," said Reuben, as he guided Ishmael to the bed and laid him on it.
"Oh, Reuben! what shall we do?" exclaimed Hannah.
"I don't know, child! wait a bit and see."
I think it is a simple mixed metaphor. The word Ishmael and AX are only vaguely found together in a Islamic quote, but the quote does not seem to mesh with this guy's thinking. There is nothing at all Islamic in his thinking. So, I think he read the Quinn books, and took Ishmael from that, and the AX is another metaphor for a couple more possibilities...
I'm thinking Alpha and Omega as "A" and "X" are the first and last letters of the alphabet, and also as a mis-spelled Axe, as a weapon of destruction.
An incredible film with zero connection to this tragedy.
There is a paper shown on TV tonight where a Magistrate had him examined. He was actually examined by a doctor who showed him "mentally ill" and a "danger to himself and others." Now at that point someone had an opportunity to intercede for him. In an inpatient setting he could have had several electric shock treatments that rapidly block the suicidal, paranoid thought patterns; then the good drugs and psychotherapy can help him back to some reality. This is so tragic for all. Imagine his parents.

We do have a statement from authorities that there was no suicide note in the room, just a few pages of free-form rant.
I aways find that, when I'm going to commit mass murder and justify it with a rant, it's important to have a backup rant just in case the mail to NBC gets lost. His computer will no doubt have the files he sent to NBC.
