Codey 'upset' over focus on Corzine's speed, seatbelt

Posted by The Star-Ledger April 20, 2007 3:19PM

Categories: Corzine crash

Acting Gov. Richard Codey said he's "a little surprised and a little upset" that so much of the public reaction to Gov. Jon Corzine's auto crash injuries has revolved around how fast his SUV was traveling and the fact that he wasn't wearing a seatbelt.

"I am a little confused and baffled by all the talk about no seatbelt and how fast, when someone is in such grave condition that we would focus on that, both by the public and the media," Codey said during a press conference in Newark about campus security.

Yeah, if he was a private citizen the police would not be focused on his speed or the fact he didn't have a seat belt on./SAR

The translation of the above remark by Codey is "Corzine is privileged, just as I am, don't worry about his crimes just focus on the fact he is hurt". I wonder if he realizes how transparent his remarks are?

The doctors and nurses focus on what they can focus on, and the citizens focus on what we can focus on.

It is proof that the left cannot be trusted with their own safety. I must control their actions. I must tax them to support their safety. Ten cents on the dollar towards them. The rest for me, their ruler.

Codey never seems to be afraid to say something that might be unpopular. This is the guy who threatened to beat up a radio shock jock after the shock jock insulted his wife, who had suffered from postpartum depression.

Codey is dead wrong here. A governor should lead by example. He isn't above the laws enacted for the little people. Hypocrisy is a legitimate issue.

If Corzine wasn’t in a giant Suburban SUV, he would probably have been dead at the scene. Gas-saving economy cars, seatbelt laws, and speed limits are only for the little people who the liberals lord over and “take care of”.

It’s the hypocrisy, stupid. “New Jersey: Come for the pollution, stay for the corruption.”

The helicopter flight, three surgeries, and eight days on a ventilator probably ran his bill up to around $225,000.00. I think he will be well over $500,000.00 by the time he gets out of the hospital, then the therapy and continuing care will add maybe another $100,000.00. If there was fairness in the world, the people of the State of New Jersey would staple that bill to Corzine's forehead, along with the bills for the injured cop and aide, and the truck, and the guardrail.

Instead, the legislature will doubtless pass a resolution that says 'Hooray for John Corzine,' or some other garbage like that. It won't surprise me if the moronic writers in the area newspapers try to spin him into a hero because of the injuries he suffered while 'serving the People of the State of New Jersey.'

1. “The Gov. is not subject to the laws of the state?
2. Does he have complete immunity?
3. If not, it is the troopers job to obey the speed limit and ticket the Gov for not wearing his seat belt.
4. Or do we now just have feudal lords as our masters?”

1. That’s right
2. Yes
3. No, we have liberals who feel that what’s good for us is not necessarily good for them!!
4. Now deal with it!!!

Neither the Star Ledger or the NYSlimes is approving of Corzine’s refusal to wear a seatbelt.

What would you expect from a DemonRAT cut from the same cloth. The rules are never meant for them; just the plebians who are expected to do as they are told.

The seatbelt was a danger only to himself, but going through a congested area at 90 MPH was a danger to everyone else.

Going thru a congested area with emergency lights on was also a danger, as everybody sees the lights and switches lanes to get out of the way of a supposed emergency vehicle. Corzine's antics were likely a direct and predictable cause of the accident that he got caught in

its okay for the Rat elitist to lecture everybody else about smoking, about homos, about "diversity",about how we should be happy to pay more taxes and how racist we are to want to close our borders.....

but don't we dare question why a govt employee was going 91 mph, with lights blazing, and not wearing a seat belt..

Just being smart. I wouldn’t become a lib if my life depended on it. I find it incomprehensible that the Governor is above the law. Doesn’t seem possible in this day and age. I challenge the NJ State Police to ticket the Governor for a seat belt violation. If they do, it will stick, take it to the bank.

His driver is not just any trooper....they have to apply for those jobs in executive security......not easy to get and no one wants to loose them!

One must put principle above self. Why would the trooper be fired for enforcing the law? I think the trooper would have a slam dunk civil suit against the state if reprisals were made.
