I could live with the fair tax quite easily although I prefer the simplicity of a flat tax.

I think the flat tax keeps the IRS in place and is still easy for the politicians to manipulate.There is still no true accounting of how much comes in and where it all goes as far as the "income" tax is concerned.

There is also no reason for the 16th amendment under the Fair Tax.

The "consumption" tax, the Fair Tax requires far less paper work on your part and the total elimination of the IRS. There is also no reason for the government to have any idea of your income if you are willing to give up the "Prebate".

There is also no reason for the 16th amendment under the Fair Tax.

The Constitution gives the Federal government the right to collect tax on income from work, not the 16th amendment.
