The disarming of America (mega-barf, fascism is here)
The Toledo Blade ^ | 4-95-07 | Dan Simpson

Posted on 04/27/2007 3:47:48 AM PDT by atomic conspiracy

Now, how would one disarm the American population? First of all, federal or state laws would need to make it a crime punishable by a $1,000 fine and one year in prison per weapon to possess a firearm......

The disarmament process would begin after the initial three-month amnesty......

Special squads of police would be formed and trained to carry out the work. Then, on a random basis to permit no advance warning, city blocks and stretches of suburban and rural areas would be cordoned off and searches carried out in every business, dwelling, and empty building. All firearms would be seized. The owners of weapons found in the searches would be prosecuted: $1,000 and one year in prison for each firearm. Clearly, since such sweeps could not take place all across the country at the same time. But fairly quickly there would begin to be gun-swept, gun-free areas where there should be no firearms. If there were, those carrying them would be subject to quick confiscation and prosecution. On the streets it would be a question of stop-and-search of anyone, even grandma with her walker, with the same penalties for "carrying."

I wrote a long letter to the Editor-in-Chief at that place, telling them to pound sand basically. (Not really, but I told him that given the fact there are 280-something million armed Americans, that makes US the majority.)

My guess is that it either wet into the round file or was filed under threatening kooks.

Once an area is ‘swept clean’ how does Dan propose to keep the guns from flowing back in again?

At the police checkpoints where you will have to stop and show your travel permits. They will search you under the guns of a Stryker (and you wondered why they went to wheeled vehicles instead of tracked like a bradley)

I didn’t make any “threats” at all. So, if they did throw it into the bit bucket (I sent an email actually, not a hand-written letter, since it is quicker and they get much faster feed back like that) then it’s their loss.

Because, I don’t have to make threats. When such things start happening because of loud mouthed people like Dan Simpleton.. er.. Simpson, then it won’t be me that drives to Ohio to stop them. I’ll just work to stop them here in Colorado.

I'm sure you didn't, but they feel threatened very easily. When they feel threatened they get afraid, and when they get afraid, then they lose bladder control. Hence the term liberal bedwetter.

I have been reading DU for a while. You could not sell this kind of fascist crap over there either because they have a small percentage who actually believe in the Second Amendment.

“What if they did confiscate all firearms?
Would that really end violence?”

If they followed up and confiscated all the knives, baseball bats, bottles, frying pans, “tire thumpers”, etc, etc, etc.

“Why am I not surprised that one of the geniuses from the State Department came up with this “idea”?”

Excellent point. Thank you. And oh so true.

What side is “our” State Department on?

“I totally agree with you. That is why it warms my RKBA heart to read the comments posted here by my fellow FReepers. With a ‘family’ like this, America is not lost.”

I’m on the Freep everyday. I don’t know what I’d do without it. I’d feel alone and depressed. I depend on the Freep for truth and knowledge. Family is right.

It annoys me no end how much seeming control over the culture the leftists, socialists, “multi-culturalists” “liberals”, etc. and others seem to have.

I never thought treason and perfidy by so many in our own government and public life would be so openly tolerated.

I’m stunned that things have changed so much in my lifetime.

Yes, but I am disappointed in the Aussies. I thought they had more stones.

Fascism is everywhere.

Freedom is the most radical political idea in history.

Many people “can’t handle the truth” or freedom. Freedom is scary to many. They want mamma, daddy and Hillary to take care of them.

He’s a retired diplomat...and a moron.

True, but what is frightening is that this person was responsible for representing and implementing the policies of the United States. I think we gain some insight into what goes on at foggy bottom.

Maybe this is his way of floating a job proposal to be implemented in '09.

"As a Federal Agent there is no way in hell that I would enforce such tyranny."

That's probably a good idea. It's also worthwhile to recall that land mines, flame throwers, A/P rockets, IEDs and other dreary home-built items are not beyond the grasp of really annoyed citizens. This guy Simpson must think we are all as stupid and nancypants as he is...

After a few of these incidents happen, the media will be quick to make the gubbermint thugs look like martyrs and the patriots will get painted like vermin.

The media won't propogandize it if they are at least as afraid to offend gun owners as they are to offend Al Sharpton, or Muslims, or gays.

The problem is, it wouldn’t be Dan coming to your house.

It would be a dozen cops in ninja suits and body armor with MP5s and licenses to kill.

Now if you get a dozen friends, and used rifles with enough penetration to punch through body armor, you might have a winning arguement, once. But the next time they’d do a Waco on you. Unless your friends got a dozen friends each to join ‘em. Then you’d have an insurrection. And the NG would be your next visitor.

And do you really want to shoot at cops and Guardsmen? This needs to be solved another level.

I’m law enforcement and have been for almost 13 years. I can say without hesitation that the day they tell us to do that 90% of us would quit.

I took an oath to support and uphold the constitution and that included the 2nd amendment.

I don’t think this scenario will ever happen in my lifetime and it would not be enforced as law enforcement agencies and agents would refuse to carry it out.

Everyone thinks Federal agents would do this but I know plenty of them and it’s no different for them than it is for cops and most of them are just regular Joe’s.

I was in the Army for 7 years before that and I don’t think they would do it either.

That’s my .02
