I become overwhelmed with joy when I see socialists crying like the whiney babies they are. : )

OOOOHHH I agree. The sight of lefty scum whining and crying warms my heart!

Sarkozy has a real chance to turn things around in France. He doesn’t need to do everything fast, though I would say he probably should do SOMETHING fast. What’s important is the general direction, and the consistency.

It’s a good sign that he made a pro-American comment in his speech today.

I have high hopes for Sarko, based on several reasons. This is a great day for France, Europe, the U.S., and the civilized world. Magnifique!!! Go, Sarko!!!

“I’m going to give these cheese eating, surrender monkeys just one more chance!”

Ah, now my life has purpose. If I’ve only saved one cheese eating surrender monkey in my life, then I’ve done something or so the cliche’ goes.

I’m just trying to look out for my brie and champagne supply. The Bordeaux and Burgandies, I can no longer afford.

Slick seems to have a knack for picking the loser. Almost everuy singe candidate at home and abroad that he has supported has lost.

The Clintons are so over.

President-elect Sarkozy will be inaugurated as the new President of France on May 16 2007.

Villepin and co. will all vacate their positions. The new President will appoint his own choices to fill every post.

Which is why it is a good thing that she has lost by such a large margin, and to a candidate who at least recognizes that Islamofascism is a threat to their country.

Islamofascism is an issue there on a personal and local level with the riots by angry muslim youths from Algeria etc where the bleeding heart left wing politicians took pity and thought they would just assimilate into French culture (you know, work 3 hours a day, be rude to customers and tourists and expect Gubmint to take care of you and make sure those customers come back whether they like it or not).

But this is really about economics over there moreso than terrorism. Their unemployment rate is over 8%. There is no entrepeneurial spirit thanks to group think and socialism. They are where the USA will be in 8 years if people don't wake up here.

My joy is dampened by the fact that I now realize sadly that Sarkozy at least publicly supports maintaining abortion, the disease that has killed millions of French kids.

I can only pray that he will be enlightened now that he has gained office.

Well - I think Bubba is globalist to the nth degree while Hillary is pure Marxist.....both of them have socialism in the bones. Bubba had a Repub Congress after 2 yrs of Moonbat Prez and Moonbat Congress which the American People rejected totally in 1994. Hillary is moonbat leftist but she is totalitarian, old time communist American leftist. Never saw a Marxist,Stalinist,Castro,Kim Sung Il whom she didn’t admire.

I'll make it a point to spend lots of money when I visit Paris in two weeks. My way of saying thanks to the French.

As happy as I am for the French, though, I'm particularly glad that we won't have to listen to endless MSM commentary here about the "year of the woman" and speculation over whether a Royal win forshadows a future Hillary victory. That would have been intolerable.

Cincinna, I’m sorry, I don’t know you, but I do drzz. Congrats on the victory in France. I’ve always had a soft spot for that country being raised on Hemingway as a youth, and visiting Paris one week on leave in 1967.

With the recent political problems between France and America, I’ve felt compelled to leave my fondness for Hemingway, and France, behind. I had no taste to read of France. Hopefully that will change. Hopefully the people of France will pick themselves up out of the quandary they’ve created, and reemerge a strong and free nation. Vive La France!

Suh-weet!

Including that uppity French ambassador to the U.S. who a few days back was telling us how Sarko's election "means nothing"?

The French embassy in Washington has made a number of stupidly provocative statements that have inflamed the situation in recent years. I even wrote them one very very angry email once just to vent on them.

I considered whether Sarko might keep de Villepin in the post for at least a while, going on the old wisdom of keeping your friends close and your enemies even closer.

But that position is just too important. If I don't miss my guess, M. de Villepin will be summarily dispatched to a well-deserved obscurity. And I bet he knows it too.

Abortion doesn’t have the same effect on French Elections because abortion is only legal in France, as in most of Europe, in the first three months of pregnancy.

That is certainly progress compared to the US where abortion on demand until the end of the 9th month of pregnancy is deemed “legal”. Candidates like Hillary and Obama take huge amounts of money from the abortion industry.

Yes. It’s not well-known that European abortion laws are actually more reasonable (more pro-life) than ours.

Yes you are right...but still. HE campaigned with Simone Weil - the woman who was instrumental in legalizing abortion in france in 1977...a holocaust survivor...that make it even more sickening.
