I wonder... is it too late for
Rudy to switch parties, and run
as a Dem?

His poll numbers would likely rebound.

...and 77% want somebody other than McCain, 87% want somebody other than Fred, 90% want someone other than Mitt, 97% want someone other than Huckabee, 98% wantsomeone other than Brownback, Tancredo, or Gilmore, and 99% want someone other than Duncan Hunter or Ron Paul.

...but yeah, it’s a ‘disaster’ for for Rudy.

I’d say Rudy and McCain are the only ones who did well in this poll.

Meanwhile, the support for "Anybody but Giuliani, McCain or Romney" appears to be growing.

What they're observing is the base failing to allow the media to pick their candidates for them. These stage-show RINOs don't make the grade.

See, there’s where you are wrong. The whole country KNOWS Rudy Giuliani and McCain (and Newt). Not nearly as many know folks like Borwnback, Tancredo, or even Romney and Fred. And Fred hasn’t even said he’s running.

" I do disagree with many of you, though. I think Rudy could win the election as well due to the crossover from the RAT party."

Rudy would pull in many rat votes as will as some independents. Would those votes be greater in number then Thompson ? Probably. Would Rudi pull in enough conservative votes as Thompson? I tend to doubt it.

The only way a Republican can win is if their base comes out in numbers and they can get enough swing votes, I just don't see that happening with Rudi

" I also feel that he is deserving of more respect from FReepers than I have seen."

In some aspects I agree but he completely lost my respect with his stance on Federal funding for abortions.

A lot of Freepers got banned for supporting Rudy - that’s why all you see is Rudy bashing with a few very hesitant comments from those of us still left still support him.
