Newt will make a great SecState, but if he runs for POTUS he will solidify the Liberals as no one else can.

Agreed. The man has too much baggage to have a serious shot at the Presidency.
Forget it, Newt.

The problem isn't lack of conservative candidates. The problem is too many egos dividing up the conservative vote. Duncan Hunter is clearly the best choice-- he
has military experience (which Newt lacks) and
lacks zipper control problems (which Newt has).
While we all owe Newt thanks for engineering the 1994 mid-terms powershift, he is yesterday's news.
The number one issue of the day is the war on Islamofacism. Somebody with genuine military experience (as opposed to cameo photo-ops) needs to be leading the charge.
It is also worthwhile to recall that Newt wilted and faded when his martial indiscretions came to light, unlike slick Willie who turned himself into a martyr. Granted, the enemedia played the major role in creating these perceptions, but requirement number two for our candidate is someone who can stand up to the enemedia.

The Republican nomination is far more in doubt now than it was two months ago, and Newt knows it. McCain is fading; Guiliani is fading; Romney is on the ascendancy. Newt could fit in anywhere.

"I think right now, it is a great possibility," Gingrich said.
And I think right now, it is a great possibility that, if Newt did get the nomination, the Dems would every state, Guam, DC, Puerto Rico and the Virgin Island, even if the Dems ran Micky Mouse.

He has a slightly better chance than McCain.
High praise of the lowest order.

I would have voted for the 90's era Gingrich but the new greener than green, Kerry loving, I can get government to do more for the environment than you can version just leaves me cold. Once you start selling out to the socialists you are off my list.
Goodbye Newt.

I agree completely. Well stated. It’d be quite interesting to have him in this and he’d take a few dem candidates down with him in the end.

It’s time for Fred to jump in. I respect Newt’s intelligence, but he is a sure loser and will suck up dollars that could help another candidate.

Newts Contract with America was stellar and I believe hes needed in our government
Actually, it wasn't. Most of it never got passed. IIRC, only one item got passed, but that was after significant modification.

I actually think Newt would be a better President than Fred, because of his History background. However, it will be difficult for him to overcome bad press.

Newt has said recently that he believes global warming is man-caused. That did it for me. The result of global warming hysteria will be a global tax.
Newt’s also a multiple-offender adulterer. Besides the moral implications of this, it also says that he cannot keep his promises. If he cannot keep the vows he made to his wife, why should we expect him to keep campaign promises he makes to us?

Newt would have more luck playing pick-up sticks with his butt cheeks than being elected POTUS.

Yeah, right. Whenever I look for deep strategic thinking about REPUBLICAN presidential politics, I ALWAYS consult ABCCNNNBCCBS news and the merry band of slackers and flackers they call “correspondents”.
