I had a high school history teacher spend an entire class getting the kids to question whether Egypt is really part of the Middle East.

She had no regard for the geopolitics that make it unquestionably part of the region (in terms of race, religion, economics) - she just wanted people to feel racist for not viewing Egypt as exclusively “African”.

She (the teacher)is right. Egypt is part of the MIDDLE WEST.

Too funny. Well, it would be funnier if not for the fact that every fat white Italian communist not only thinks this but is regularly and worshipfully quoted by the New York Times, the newspaper of record. So it's burrowed into the liberal consciousness, sort of like chiggers.

P.S.: I saw this Philadelphia show. It’s fabulous and I recommend it to everyone. Not as good as the Met’s show back in the 1970’s (the “mask” that the event is using in its publicity is not in the exhibition, but it’s very good, anyway.)
