A Candidate for All Seasons(Duncan Hunter Alert!)
Hunter Blog ^ | May 29, 2007

("This was submitted to the page by a reader and I thought it was worth publishing." -- John Hawkins, consultant with the Hunter campaign.

After reading Congressman Hunter's core principles, I was so moved that I sent this email to my entire mailing list-feel free to pass on any part of it to yours.

Hi guys,

Perhaps, like me, you have been wondering if there is a presidential candidate you could enthusiastically support in 2008. Please go to www.gohunter08.com and click on the core values link to read what Duncan Hunter believes and has supported. I personally knew almost nothing about this guy till my mom read me a campaign letter she got by mistake! This guy deserves our support-we don't have to settle for a Gingrich or Giuliani because we have nowhere else to go!

When my dad was alive and I would bewail the state of our republic and wonder what the world was coming to, he would tell me that God would send us the man we needed at the time we needed him-"a man on a white horse" he called it. Ronald Reagan was one of those men and everybody thought he didn't have a chance, but he was God's man for that time and through him our great country found its bearings for awhile. Now we are in an even bigger mess than we were then, and we need a man of principle and strength more than ever. Maybe Duncan Hunter is that man, and if he is, and if we get behind him, maybe once more God will give America another chance, another season to be the last best hope for the world.

So let's get the word out about Duncan Hunter.

America needs Duncan Hunter. It's just a matter of making sure that the rest of the people realize it. Go Hunter!

“The regular politicians and main contenders and the mainstream media don’t want the competition, don’t want a candidate who gives straight answers about what he believes, and especially don’t want Americans to know they have a choice.”

That basically explains why his campaign has not caught fire yet. He’s slowly building momentum at the grassroots level, but it’s going to take a lot of hard work to defeat the liberal MSM, who want the election to be a choice between a republican socialist and a democrat socialist.

From an article by George Will who seems to support Rudy but was honest about Hunter.

In 1969, he dropped out of college, joined the army and was sent to Vietnam. From there he mailed his pay to a friend who purchased for him an island in Idaho's Snake River, where Duncan farmed after his discharge. Then another friend said a San Diego law school would admit him without a college degree. In 1980 he was a lawyer with a storefront office in San Diego's Hispanic community when his father walked in and told him he could be a congressman. Never mind, his father said, that this district was only 29 percent Republican. Reagan was at the top of the ticket.

The real McCoy.

“Never mind, his father said, that this district was only 29 percent Republican.”

And he won the election against an 18-year Democrat incumbent.

We are at war. How could we choose anyone else but Hunter? The whole idea that it doesn’t matter as long as the President surrounds himself with competent people, doesn’t fly with me. Immigration/Border security? He has more gravitas than the rest of the field, collectively, on immigration issues. He is solid on all the other issues as well. I find myself at a loss when a man so consummate for leadership at this precise time in history, gets so little coverage and has so little support. Obama fires off some Utopian claptrap like some large auriculated pseudo-Pollyanna, and it is national news. Hillary favors us with one of her condescending impersonations and receives major coverage. Fred ‘dips his toes in’ and, stop the presses! We do need man of principle and strength more than ever. That is 100% correct, but will they know such a man when they see him? I am hopefully optimistic and ready to race. So let the best man win, and if the best man (Hunter) doesn’t win, here is hoping the 2nd best is an overachiever. :)

What’s with the script on those shirts? Looks like it was done by a five-year-old on crack...

So, why is he a congressman from California? Why didn’t he beat Feinstein or Boxer for the senate seat?

Could it be that he can’t even win in his own state much less the whole US?

Stop dreaming.

I will support the best candidate for President. Duncan Hunter is a solid conservative and patriot, and I think that he will make a great President. I will not be supporting an “electable” liberal.

If you recall the artwork of Ralph Steadman on the books by Hunter S. Thompson on “Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas” and other titles, that’s where the font comes from.

Ah, yes. I had difficulty placing it. It really doesn’t look like an ideal font choice for a ‘conservative’ ticket, but maybe I’m being so 20th Century on this...
