Just announced died of leukemia:
WASHINGTON Wyoming Sen. Craig Thomas, a three-term conservative Republican who stayed clear of the Washington limelight and political catfights, died Monday. He was 74.
The senator's family issued a statement saying he died Monday evening at National Naval Medical Center in Bethesda, Md. He had been receiving chemotherapy for acute myeloid leukemia.
Just before the 2006 election, Thomas was hospitalized with pneumonia and had to cancel his last campaign stops. He nonetheless won with 70 percent of the vote, monitoring the election from his hospital bed.
Two days after the election, Thomas announced that he had just been diagnosed with acute myeloid leukemia.
Gov. Dave Freudenthal, a Democrat, will appoint a successor from one of three finalists chosen by the state Republican party........"
RIP. Can’t say I’ve ever heard of him though.
Wow.
Sorry to hear that, but a battle with cancer is not one you’ll win.
Wow that was fast. I just saw the story about him this afternoon. Was his condition known beforehand or did it all happen just like that?
that’s because he was a very nice, soft spoken man. Don’t know how he servived DC
Very sad. Prayers up for him and his family.
God bless him and his.
There are too many variables to justify such a blanket statement.
The Wyoming governor, a democrat, will now appoint a replacement to serve the rest of the term. Senator Thomas was just reelected in 2006, so this means an extra democrat for the next 5 1/2 years!
God Bless him. Wyoming has a Democratic Gov. A seat we just lost
Prayers lifted.
Rest In Peace, Senator, and prayers for your loved ones.
I disagree. I had cancer in 1985. I'm still here. Lots of people win the battle.
Get used to it.

Apparently Wyoming Republican Senator Craig Thomas is in "serious condition" at National Naval Medical Center where he has been getting treatment for leukemia.
According to a statement, "Doctors have been administering a second round of chemotherapy to control the disease, but the senator's blood cancer has proven resistant to their most recent efforts and he continues to struggle with infection in addition to the leukemia."
His wife, Susan, said in the statement, "At this difficult time, all we can do is give him as much love and support as possible. The support and prayers of Wyoming folks have made a tremendous difference to us. It has meant everything to Craig, and I know it helps him today."
Prayers to Craig’s family and those who loved him. He was a good and gentle man.
Diagnosed with leukemia last year. Chemo didn’t get it done. Tough disease.
A refreshing change in contrast to the blowhards still drawing oxygen in that chamber.
