Not exactly... The Governor must choose between three candidates selected by the state Republican committee, so its unlikely the seat will change party hands due to this...

They don’t have a leg to stand on.
After the deaths of John Heinz and Paul Coverdell, Dem senators were put in their place.
Has nothing to do with class. Apparently, Wyoming law requires the party of the Senator to be replaced to submit three names. The governor must choose one of those three. This will be the first time in a long time (at least before 1972) that a governor will appoint someone from the opposite party to fill a vacant seat.
Lynne Cheney isn’t interested.
There are a few names circulating. They include state Representative Colin Simpson, state Senator John Barrasso, Assistant U.S. Attorney General Tom Tom Sansonetti, U.S. Attorney Matt Mead, and Secretary of State Max Maxfield.
Has the funeral been announced yet?
Not that I’m aware of.
The funeral was Saturday in Casper, presumably at the Methodist Church. Burial was Sunday in Cody. The Thomases had lived in Casper for 28 years.
