Creeps are everywhere...parties, campuses, bars, shopping malls. Daylight is no guarantee against an attack. Scum comes in all shapes and sizes; look at some of the most notorious serial killers - they passed themselves off as nice guys!
Thankfully, I had 3 older brothers teach me to hold my own growing up; I was able to defend myself and avoided problematic situations. Nowadays, you can be in completely innocent surroundings and still find yourself a target!
Teenage girl recently kidnapped and murdered in Wichita.
SO very sad. I’m keeping her family in my prayers. When I read that she’d been abducted, I turned to our 19 year old daughter, who has had Rape Aggressive Defense training, and told her to NEVER allow anyone to force her into a car. Kick, scream, bite, slam her knee into his ‘nads, but don’t allow herself to be put into a car, because she’d likely never be seen alive again. By making a loud, messy fuss, the perp would probably leave her and run so that he could get away without any witnesses.
ALL young women need training in self protection. Our local police department offers Rape Aggressive Defense training, and our daughter took it with some other girls in her Senior Scout troop. The detectives who taught it were very blunt with the girls about what could happen to them, but gave them good, precise instruction on fighting back in case they're jumped. After three sessions of reading, lecture and discussion, the final night consisted of the detectives getting suited up in padded gear, grabbing for each girl, individually, and letting each one have the chance to wail on them.
I came in just before our daughter was up, and I was so proud of her! When they grabbed at her, she kicked and hit, and generally beat the snot out of the guys. All of the girls, and the several older women in the class did the same thing. The officers were mighty proud of them, I can tell you.
It was interesting, because at one point, the officers had a couple of the girls lie down and act as though they were sleeping so the guys could sneak up on them. One of the women was upset by this, and asked why they would do that to the girls, because it was scary. I interjected by telling her about a man who broke into the apartment of a single woman while we were living in Tallahassee. He started attacking her while she was sleeping, but she woke up, fighting back immediately, and scared him away because the noise attracted the neighbors. They need to be ready for anything.
So, it is different with guys ? We guys should be able to wear what we want. Take our shirts off and play basketball on a hot summer day. But women better not show any skin because if they do, they are beginning to be treated like an object ?

but not just in Cincy.
You and I both live in appalachia.. small town America. But something tells me that if we *really* knew the people and everything that was going on within a..say.. 2 mile radius of where we live, we would totally freak.
Everyone has to be carefull of who they are around and trust these days. There are so many sickos in our society. I think it comes from evil. Not because of the way women or kids dress.

Edwin Hall is from Olathe, Kansas. A tip from the public lead to his arrest. One witness saw headlights in the park around 9 PM, which is within the time line for Kelsey’s disappearance. Police have found Hall’s pickup truck which was also seen on a surveillance video at the Target shopping area. There should be a wealth of forensic evidence in this truck. The body of Kelsey Smith was found 20 miles east of the shopping area in near Grandview, Montana. Because the body was found so soon after the murder, there will be a wealth of fresh evidence available.
Police will release elements of their evidence that point to Hall’s arrest Thursday morning.
