GOP Ron Paul - Five Million Dollar Man? (Paul increases campaign funds by 1,000% in 60 days to $5M!)

GOP Ron Paul - Five Million Dollar Man? Thursday, June 07, 2007 - FreeMarketNews.com

Congressman Ron Paul’s donations have moved up - not by hundreds of thousands - but by millions as a result of his debate performances and groundswell of support on the Internet and in New Hampshire, observers close to the campaign say.

The move is especially impressive since as of March 31, 2007, he had perhaps $500,000 on hand (see candidate estimates below).

FMNN had previously reported – after the GOP presidential debate in South Carolina - that candidate Ron Paul’s (R-Tex) donations, large and small, had nearly doubled.

http://www.freemarketnews.com/WorldNews.asp?nid=42336

Now observers close to the campaign are revealing – with some astonishment – that donations to the campaign in recent weeks have pushed the total up to perhaps $4 or $5 million.

“That’s a huge number at this stage,” says one observer. “That starts to put him in a position where he can compete – state by state, anyway – with the major candidates.”

And this source added, “Of course, it’s hard to tell because the numbers keep changing – and thus nobody at the campaign has a firm count, at least not hour to hour. But the numbers are big. It’s definitely over three, probably over four, and if it hasn’t hit five yet, it will soon.”

At this rate, say observers, Ron Paul could have something like $10 million in his coffers inside of several months, and the total could keep growing – so long as he continues to hit on themes that Americans support – how to return the country to a true, small government, constitutional republic and how to end the war in Iraq.

To be sure such amounts are somewhat speculative. But to put the amount of money Ron Paul is said to have raised recently in perspective, here are the figures of cash on hand for GOP candidates as of March 31, 2007:

http://www.cnn.com/ELECTION/2008/money/gop.html

Sam Brownback cash-on-hand: $806,626

Jim Gilmore cash-on-hand: $90,107

Rudy Giuliani cash-on-hand: $11,949,735

Mike Huckabee cash-on-hand: $373,918

Duncan Hunter cash-on-hand: $272,552

John McCain cash-on-hand: $5,180,799

Ron Paul cash-on-hand: $524,919

Mitt Romney cash-on-hand: $11,863,653

Tom Tancredo cash-on-hand: $575,078

Tommy Thompson cash-on-hand: $139,723

Apparently, Rep Paul’s simple way of telling it like it is still goes way over your head. Paul is talking about globalism. You know, that ideology that is big on promises, but short on delivering...except when it comes to illegal immigration.

The real problem is that no amount of misdirection makes dealing with the problems in Iraq go away. Does the police department stop enforcing the law because they have a scandal where a police chief is brought up on corruption charges? Also providing stupid excuses to validate and prey on poor Muslims whose leaders are purposely trying to deflect their anger onto the heads of Americans when those very leaders are the real problem.

The worst thing we have done in the Middle East is to buy oil and those like Paul who wish to give shelter to the bankrupt ideas that fuel the hatred in the Middle East like the Democrat party and large sections of the free world's media should take responsibility for their role in fostering the continued hatred when they should be calling for all Muslims and people in the MiddleEast to join us in Peace. Instead they would rather argue and make excuses about how bombing Iraq which continued to violate its terms of surrender some how made the radical Muslims angry.

I wonder how sensitive Mr. Paul and Moore would have us be to the plight of Radical Muslims in the search of World Domination? Do we ban cartoons that might make them upset? Do we ban books that reflect badly on Mohammad? There are all kind of things that seem to tick Muslims off enough to kill. It doesn't take much and it most certainly doesn't take bombs or violations of Islamic territory to do it. Yes we have to be careful not to hurt the feelings of such passionate religious people no matter how irrational they may be. I only wish they'd show this tolerance to religious people here in the US.

The worst part of the rhetoric is that it totally disregards the will of sane Muslims who welcome liberty and the free market. It is the same disregard the left had for the South Vietnamese, 500000 of which died in prisons camps when Ted Kennedy and the Democrat party cut off funding in 1975. It brings one to question why is it that the opinions of their more radical hateful breathern win the day? We do not need to understand the hate we need to lead by example like we are in the liberation of Iraq.

We finally did the right thing from both a humanitarian and a strategic view but that isn't good enough because we have people in this country that are fueling the fire against their own soldiers, against freedom. Using words like Empire, Occupation, and focusing on isolated mistakes and casting our soldiers as crusaders and nazis. They have made AbuGrabe a catch phrase that one would think is stapled to the tip of their tongues as quickly as they bring it out to beat our soldiers with.

The low rhetoric of the left and isolationist libertarians has killed more Iraqis inspiring them with lies to attack our soldiers than would've died had they and the world provided the soldiers and the Iraqi people the support and encouragement they deserve. Instead they spread poisonous rumors about conspiracies, they rehabilitate the hateful dictator Saddam, they stoke the fire and defend the most oppressive regimes remaining on this planet and now they want us to leave Iraq. They want us to run away like cowards so the US can have another shameful black eye and they can have political power or maybe just bask in the bitterness of their clear and present evil selves.

Iraq is an undeclared war, and if it were declared (like Ron Paul wanted it to be) we would have declared victory already.

"I read these posts here, see the stupid one liners, and I see even a jpeg on this thread has been created to defame Dr. Paul. It's disheartening. But then I realize this is just a very small slice of the few Bush police action supporters left. The GOP is scared of him and the establishment media doesn't know what to do with him."

Dude, that must be a BIG blunt you're toking on. Can't you guys see a wackjob right in front of your face ?

Because we shouldn’t have fought the Huns in WWI we should never fight an anemy again.
BTW, it wasn’t the war in 1918 that was the problem, it was the treaty of Versailles that caused the problems.

My many neighbors who were fresh out of the camps with their numbers tatted on their arm would not have lost so many of their families and they themselves suffer if the world would have gone after Hitler in the mid late 1930s before things got worse.

This is what we are doing today and this is our last chance.

The world rather let the cancer spread than stop it quick with less deaths.

Right back atcha, brother. It’s mindboggling how freepers that you would assume to be conservative have bought into the false promise of globalism.

Given that he only had a matter of seconds to take down the ‘hero of 9/11’ then maybe you did. He did it quite well...but sadly few will ever understand why.

They do not comprehend that foreign intervention is a left-wing concept.

That's where you're wrong. They DO realize it and they revel in it. Just saying...Blackbird.

Dr. Demento can’t tell it like it is, because he doesn’t know his a$$ from a hole in the ground. A 5 year old has a better grasp of foreign policy to know that it’s the Mohammadans and NOT the U.S. that is the source of hatred in the middle east. To listen to you guys talk as if he’s the wisest man since Moses is nothing short of embarrassing. He’s like Howard Beale without the shouting. Are you guys seriously that out to lunch ? C’mon.

I love these Paul threads. For a guy who's supposedly a Libertarian "nutcase," he sure draws out a lot of nutty, brain-dead responses.

Funny how the Paul bashers are accusing Paul of doing exactly what they are posting.
