Edwards to Sue Iowa Democratic Party, Clinton Campaign

Presidential candidate and former senator John Edwards (D-N.C.) says he will file a lawsuit against the Cedar County Democrats and the Clinton campaign for what he says “may have been irreparable damage to his presidential prospects.”

The $200 million suit stems from an incident that occurred during Edwards’ campaign swing through Iowa this month. Asked to point to the picture of her favorite presidential candidate, Emma Claire, Edwards’ nine-year old daughter, pointed to a picture of Senator Hillary Clinton (D-N.Y.). The whole thing was caught on videotape.

“This is the dirtiest of campaign tricks,” Edwards complained. “It’s the typical Clinton ‘sleaze machine’ at work. It should be clear to the American voters that the Clintons will stop at nothing in their lust for power.”

Edwards contends that the incident was a “set up.” “Somehow, Clinton’s operatives induced my daughter to pick Hillary over her own father,” Edwards said. “I don’t know whether it was drugs, hypnosis, or some sort of telepathic mind-control technique, but it’s just plain wrong to manipulate people into making bad choices.”

Nora Goode, spokesperson for the Clinton campaign in Iowa, belittled Edwards’ complaint as “more whining from a champion of the art of whining. I mean, here’s a guy whose career as a tort lawyer was founded on manipulating juries with elaborate stunts and mind-games. Apparently, he can dish it out, but he can’t take it. Is this the kind of sniveling weasel we want as the nation’s next president?”

“She isn’t imitating Bill Maher. She made a comment some time ago about Edwards’ manliness and Edwards’ wife reprimanded her, telling her that she was cheapening the debate.
Coulter’s response was that maybe she should just start saying that she wished Edwards was killed by terrorists, since Bill Maher said that about the Vice President and no one made as big a deal about that as they have made about Coulter calling Edwards a girl.

As usual, Ann made a witty comment about media double standards and, as usual, her words are being twisted.”

The difference between the Right and Left is only one side has humor and brilliance wrapped in a neat tightly wound bow.

When you look at Maher’s comments about killing the VP, there is neither humor, nor brilliance just a swarmy belief thaat he’s right and that that course is perfectly acceptable.

If anyone thinks about the context between the two, it’s as clear as day that Ann is NOT on the same playing field as Maher and his ilk. A sophisticated sense of humor and political wit should never be banned from the marketplace of ideas.

Agreed with all of that....and it fits perfectly the definition of imitating.

I’m not here to argue semantics.

...done! Ann is good at working against the fad of pretenses at extreme sensitivities. Communication and cooperation are being ruined in our nation by that stupid movement.

No it doesn't.

I’m not here to argue semantics.

It's not a matter of semantics, but intent.

Her intent was to mock Bill Maher, not to join him.

..not surprising poll results in that liberalism / socialism is an emotion based quasi-religious ideology, and Ms. Edwards cancer battle has given her words more power than they should have--

And I say this as a cancer survivor...

Please note that intent is mentioned nowhere.

Is there a difference in the intent behind the imitation under heading 1 and heading 2 of the definition you supplied? Are "following as a model" and "mocking" synonymic terms?

I'm done with the semantics.

You introduced semantics, not I. So let's continue down your path.

Clearly Coulter is being accused of imitation in the sense of heading 1 that you supplied.

In reality, her words meet the conditions of heading 2.

So she is indeed being misrepresented.

Ann Coulter serves all of us when she demonstrates the blatant hypocrisies of the left..

If it was a “funny joke” when Maher wished the VP to be killed by terrorists.

Then it is a “funny joke” when AC said the same about Edwards.

No double standard.

Ann Coulter did GREAT. The story was incredibly biased. Here’s a link to the video of the entire exchange:
