“Let he who is without sin cast the first stone.”

None of us is sinless and I’m not casting stones. I’m also not saying he’s a bad man and that he should resign or be destroyed by this. However, we live in a day when the private lives of politicians are more scrutinized than ever before. Particularly in this post Clinton, and since he is from Louisiana, post Bob Livingston era, I’m just wondering what could have gone through the mind of a conservative Republican senator, with four small children and a wife, that would lead him to make such a seemingly poor decision.

Yeah. Can’t argue with that. BUT the important thing is he was genuinely sorry and confessed BEFORE it was made public.

I doubt he’s a Clinton, Kennedy, et al.

Ironic that you mentioned the lobbyist Bob Livingston: Vitter succeeded Livingston in the House in the 1998 special election.

Last year Livingston’s son, who was in his early thirties, was electrocuted in a power line accident.

The seat is now held by gubernatorial frontrunner Bobby Jindal.

Why would you think that a politician be exempt from making ‘poor decisions’? Poor decisions seem to be part of their repertoire..... That said poor decisions run the gambit of the imperfect human species. The real question in my opinion is did he learn from it and has he been able to correct his actions and improve his character?
