This is not good. I have a kid flying home from Taipei today. I think his first stop is Tokyo.

Do you think they will close the airports down?

Saturday, July 14, 2007 at 17:21 EDT

TOKYO — Powerful typhoon Man-yi made landfall on Japan's southern main island of Kyushu on Saturday afternoon while injuring at least 44 people, forcing thousands of people to evacuate and leading to power cuts and cancellation of airline and railroad services.

This season's fourth typhoon is expected to continue to lash the Japanese archipelago, traveling along the southern coast of Honshu, the biggest of Japan's four main islands, through the Kanto region over the long weekend, the Japan Meteorological Agency said while warning of heavy rains, floods and strong winds.

We were fortunate . The phoon took a right turn at Miyazaki so all we got was peripheral winds and a little rain . Lucky .

Tokyo won’t get hit until tomorrow ( Sunday in Japan ) , and by the time it reaches there it will be downgraded to a tropical storm or less .
