Great article, Smooth. That’s the only kind of column he posts, Lily. :-)

I can't imagine what our troops go through when the voices of liberals like Cindy Sheehan call the president a worse terrorist than Osama bin Laden, Harry Reid claiming we have lost the war while troops are still on the ground, Pelosi acting like a rockstar in countries that support efforts to kill our troops or Kennedy, Biden and the others who continue to elevate presidential bashing to an art form in order to regain power in D.C.

I don't have to imagine. I hear it first hand - from my grandson - Airborne Task Force - "The Rock" - Afghanistan.

The troops are demoralized by these traitorous socialists and the media who are the best friends the terrorists have.

Our troops fear the American press and the libs in Congress as being as much an enemy and a danger of their mission as the terrorists - WE need to get that word out, loud and clear and NEVER miss a chance to let our troops know we are behind them.

Besides making a big noise and constantly emailing/faxing and phone both libs and conservatives = one as a heads up and one to lend support - as well as to all media...we can send boxes to our troops with things we take for granted, like gum, toothpaste, baby wipes, home-baked anything (that doesn't melt in 100+ weather....) magazines, books - things that let them know WE have not FORGOTTEN them...because that's the way they feel.

THEY believe in their mission. They are being shot at and mortared every day and night.

To protect our very civilization. Could we do at least this little bit to let them know we care???

I served two combat tours in Vietnam and certainly agree that Vietnam veterans were not treated well by America’s leftists —

That said, I think it revisionist history to suggest that America “lost in Vietnam.” Certainly, the Communist North eventually took over the South, but America’s military never lost a single major battle there and had left under an agreement with the North long before the communists successfully took the South. The South Vietnamese could no longer hold on after a Democratic Congress, in the wake of Nixon’s resignation, reneged on agreements to help fund South Vietnam’s military struggle. How this got to be a loss by America’s military baffles me.

And further, statistics do not bear out the oft-repeated suggestion that Vietnam veterans had bigger problems re-socializing into the American mainstream. All combat veterans have problems along those lines at some level, but Vietnam veterans suffered no more than more appreciated veterans of either the World Wars or subsequent engagements in the Persian Gulf. The suggestions that they did is just another pile of leftist BS meant to discredit the soldiers that this same left sent to the other side of the world in the service of their country.

I don’t hate the North Vietnamese, never did and never even came close, they were a worthy adversary. But, I come pretty close to hating the American left and I get closer every time they spit again on Vietnam war veterans.

to add to my post #5 - wouldn’t it be great if we so flood the mail system with boxes to the troops that it made the news? This would not only let the troops know we support them - but the traitors back here would know. There's more than one way to slap an enemy up side the head and make them grit their rotten teeth.

Liberals haven’t figured out yet that their leftist ideology makes them the first to be up against the wall if Sharia ever becomes the law of our land.

If Peolsi et. al. legislate another defeat in Iraq, and Hillary is elected, I think it will be VERY hard to motivate anyone to join the US Army in the future.

I would not want my kid serving under a Commander in Chief who represents and is the leader of the party which has such a complete disregard for the the troops.

The actions of the Dems are shameless, and in the case of Harry Reid, border on Treason.

I think that the actions of the Dems are leading us ever closer to a serious reckoning day in the America.

WEll, only 8 posts so far - 2 mine - but 197 of you lurkers.

What say you - could you manage a few minutes and a few dollars to do what I suggest in posts #5 & 8 ???

Because we can cluck all we want about the traitorous non-support of the enemy within - but unless we make ourselves heard both at home and to the troops under fire - we are just as guilty - sins of omission.Lincoln said it: He has the right to criticize who has the heart to help." So, want to gripe? Earn the right.

Well said.

I don't have to "imagine" either. I've been over here for 17 months.

I only take exception with you using the word "fear", regarding the MSM and libs. "Hate" maybe but not "fear". "Enemy", definitely.

Regards

The military under Clinton (billy boy) hated him - and left in droves.

It's time for another "Tea Party" - I've got feathers...

Bless you and Protect you.

Can you provide mailing addresses we could send boxes too and what would be most appreciated?

I have my grandson's A.P.O. for his squadron in Afghanistan - we all could use others?

Also, how about things like pencils, pads of paper, flip flops, gum and gummy bears or ? that you all could pass out to the kids. I know many of you troops supply things on your own - but couldn’t we help?
