Y’know, while I would never key someone’s car, I have on occasion made loud remarks about posers who drive an SUV that’s used neither for utility nor sport.

I mean, what earthly good is an SUV that never goes off-road? If you’re not gonna use the SUV for the reason God created it, buy a damn station wagon.

You got to go easy on this one. Corvettes aren't cheap and many men can't afford one until middle age. I'd like to buy one, but I've been out of college for only 2 and a half years, and buying even a 10 year old Corvette for a second vehicle would be hard on my money.

LOL I would agree with you......

My sons work at horse shows in the summer and they made the remark, the only time these SUV’s go off road is when they park in the grass parking areas. My eldest had to pull some of these SUV’s out of the mud, they did not realize they had 4WD......

Well then, I'm glad I sold my Vette (for a profit). After driving a luxury car, driving a '69 Vette kind of sucks no matter how fast it is. At least I've been driving two seaters since I was 18 and still do.

The reality is that SUVs are today’e generation’s station wagon.

It is more environmentally friendly to drive one SUV to the car pool line at school than two smaller cars.

I mean, what earthly good is an SUV that never goes off-road?

My SUV, which I hope never goes off road, serves the earthly good of being able to transport several children and large amounts of equipment on the trips I make to my shore house every other spring/summer/fall weekend - and the much longer trips I make when bringing my kids to see relatives in other states every month or so.

Not only is it sufficiently roomy, its large and fully boxed frame enhances safety while I am transporting my family.

Were one of the morons who believes that the Garden State Parkway is a drag racing strip to hit me, I would likely win.

If you’re not gonna use the SUV for the reason God created it, buy a damn station wagon.

Not only is it much less roomy and contains space for only two child carseats, a station wagon would not win in the scenario I described. At best it might tie, which is no comfort.

I plan on buying one next spring. It is my dream vehicle. Mine will be safer in the great red state of Tennessee than in the state of Washington. That is what is so great about America,a person has the freedom to purchase any car they like!

Oh, and my SUV's 4WD - which station wagons did not have - is excellent for the frequent NJ combination of heavy snowfall and lax municipal plowing.

I don't like having to put my car in neutral and push when my toddlers are inside.

*shrug*

I rarely off-road, although sometimes in Texas one has to. That said, as a mother of three with assorted friends and teammates, nothing beats a 3-rows-of-seats SUV.

I like to be able to see what's coming down the highway, or who's braking up ahead. The safety of my children trumps anyone's opinion.

My kingdom for a new Suburban...
