DeVore stands ground on (nuclear power) plants
The Newport Beach and Costa Mesa Daily Pilot ^ | July 19, 2007 | Alicia Robinson

An earthquake that hit Japan on Monday reportedly damaged a nuclear power plant, but it hasn't shaken Newport Beach Assemblyman Chuck DeVore's resolve to allow new sources of nuclear power in California.

The incident has raised questions about whether nuclear plants should be located in areas that experience frequent earthquakes ...

DeVore last week filed papers for a statewide ballot measure that would remove the ban on new nuclear facilities. ... That wouldn't happen under his initiative because it doesn't allow plants to be built in quake-prone areas, DeVore said. ... he said, according to an article from Bloomberg News Service, the amount of radioactivity in the spilled water is about the same amount that's naturally present in 12 adults.

If the Green wackos really wanted to break our addiction to fossil fuels they would let us build a hundred super-modern, super-safe nuclear power plants in a crash program like the Manhattan Project.

We could eliminate vast emissions of green-houses grasses and all the other things they claim to care about. A nuclear power plant doesn't have a "carbon footprint" it effective eats pollution like Ted Kennedy consumes bourbon.

Too bad most environmentalists are only emitters of hot air....

The Green whackos don’t want to just break our “addiction” to oil, they want us all to live in slave barracks on plantations, owned by them, with us eating uncooked food and going barefoot and them living in mansions, eating catered meals of Panda meat and Brazilian sea bass before jumping into their private jets to zip off to private rock concerts celebrating the saving of the planet. Of course, they don’t realistically expect to meet those goals anytime soon, but they do have their ideals and they’re sticking to them!

The DeVore sounds WAY too smart to be a California politician. God help him.

We have a law on our books outlawing the Communist party in the state he wants to repeal, don’t give him too much credit.

Since the existing Palo Verde units are on 18-degree centers, could we max out the site by adding another 17 reactors? One problem: insufficient municipal poop to cool that many units, Palo Verde being the only site cooled in that manner.

But no problem - California seems to have a huge surplus of that estimable substance, so please send it our way.

The Central Valley here in CA also wants the nukes. And if you have ever driven down I5 you know we’ve got plenty of cowpies for cooling them plants.
