Breaking: AmTrak Train Passengers Calling CNN for Help
CNN | 7-22-07

Posted on 07/21/2007 2:36:37 PM PDT by Global2010

CNN Just interview a passenger who has been on a stranded Amtrak since 9:30 a.m.

More calls are coming in from passengers on the train.

Seems this lady wants off and Amtrak is saying to the passengers they don't know when that will happen.

Rumors are the tracks are washed out at both ends.

Food, water, air, toilets still in good shape.

Just seems to be very frustrated passengers due to lack on info.

So they wanted to reach a live national news show to let them know they are stuck.

The Anchor on CNN said well sounds like they are not in danger or lacking food/toilet so you can't say anything negative about Amtrak.

The other anchor said maybe we should send them all copies of Harry Potter to keep them occupied (sarcastically speaking).

This state is not for the faint hearted, weather wise!

I live “Deep in the Heart of Texas” (14 miles from the geographical center of the state, near Trickham). We have had over 35 inches of rain thus far this year. Annual norm is about 22 inches.

Here is an AP video of one Amtrak-car collusion last week in Florida. The car driver drove around lowered gates and was hit straight on by the 80 mph train.

Video of Amtrak train hitting car, killing four in the car.

In one spectacular rescue in San Antonio, four lucky young adults whose truck was stuck last night returned to the scene near Leon Creek off Grissom Road, in the northwest part of the city, only to be overwhelmed by floodwaters.
The two men and two women, ranging in ages from 19 to 25, sought safety in a tree and were happened upon by a passing police helicopter. They subsequently were rescued by a Fire Department boat, officials said.

These idiots must be considered strong contenders for the Darwin Awards!

"Where is the President! Has FEMA been mobilized?"

Chimpy McHitlerBushaliburton Co. is currently out in the middle of the Atlantic cutting donuts on a jet ski trying to recreate another killer hurricane, just like last time!

So are they just going to leave those poor people sitting on the tracks until the waters receed?

17” of rain will get your attention.

Were you in San Antonio when they had 18” of snow one December day? The mayor shut the city down, since no one could get out.

In my south Texas city we have had 16 inches of rain already this month! It has been declared a disaster area and has been mentioned on Fox and other news sites.

Amtrak is absolutely the worst when it comes to dealing with passengers and emergencies. Several years ago my family decided to take the train down the west coast. On the way back, we hit a semi truck/trailer and nearly derailed. It was pretty scary. The driver of the truck was killed. What did Amtrak do? Instead of taking the passengers off the other side of the the train, they take them off on the side and parade us all right by the dead body. My son was 10 and had never seen anything like this before. Then they let us stand in a dirty radish patch in 100 degree sun for nearly 9 hours before they could get another train to take us back to LA. When we got in, there was no help for us. No hotels set up, no information, nothing. My husband was very upset and when he complained they threatened to have him arrested.

I'd like to point out that there are many, many people who want your health care to be ran by the same people who run Amtrak.

I ended up cancelling my Amtrak trip for this very reason...the railway was completely flooded in Oklahoma and shut down. I think it was open by the time of my trip, but I didn’t want to chance it!

This was the very train we woulda been on though, I think...the Texas Eagle.
