Strangely enough that pretty much IS the best thing we can do (keep the country running).

On the other hand I would like to think that I am smart enough to pull that off even if I was told the truth. So I do understand and agree with your fustration.

Agreed. And what crappy engineering. One section fails and the whole damn thing collapses?

I can understand a skyscraper collapsing but don't they build bridges section by section?

“The producer counted the cars and 2 buses in the water.I hope this is a mistake.”

The Fox people couldn’t tell the difference between a train passenger car and a grain cargo car.

Construction, lot of workers, equipment, perfect environment for act of terror. Terrorist could be disguised as construction workers, any movement or presence of individual (s) under or around the bridge would not cause any suspicion, unless there is a strict security on this type of construction (I seriously doubt it).

If there was sabotage at NASA, what is to make people think that construction of bridges and buildings is any safer from infiltration?

Does Noah live in a helicopter? Those pictures look like they were taken from about a thousand feet.

I think terrorism is unlikely as a terrorist would run the risk of anyone on the construction crew spotting something amiss
And, thankfully, we can rest secure in the confidence that NO islamist scumbag would ever seek employment in that sort of trade. In fact, we can relax in the knowledge that the whole concept of "sleeper agents" is mere paranoid fiction.

Whew!

I know harmonics can do very strange things on a bridge.

Yep that's why armies always broke stride when marching across bridges.

One has to wonder when you hear all the conspiracy theorists saying that the WTC was an inside job (steel doesn't just melt). Well... ya gotta think the WTC towers had a LOT more weight riding on their infrastructure when those planes hit. All of those steel units work together and are intended to carry a more balanced load, you remove or damage some or unbalance the load for too long, and all the rest have to work that much harder.

What they do know is how to get a breaking news story on the air as they did while CNN and MSNBC fiddled for some time at the beginning. Anyone who rags on them as much as you must not recall the barren conservative wasteland before they came along.

Glad to hear you are both of you are well!

I am in total disbelief, My office is right there and I traveled across that bridge 4 times just yesterday (2 round trips).

There's no kind of existing bridge defect that could be aggravated by a spell of 90F temperatures? That seems like a bold statement to me.

90 is nothing. It's the construction and vibration and unbalanced load that would do it. (I'm certainly not a pro however).

We saw an interview with a doctor who was in charge of the triage. He said everyone who could be transported had been transported and that there were only a couple of kids with non life-threatening injuries.

If there had been a bus load of kids trapped anywhere, he wouldn’t have been calmly chatting with the press.

Anything is possible, but I’m pretty sure that we would have heard something by now if there was a bus load of anybody in jeapardy.

my thought is the only safe place to assume they wouldn’t at or participate in a suicide bomb would be Corkys bbq in Memphis, or a similar place in any town.

Actually, it appears they can rest secure in the confidence that they don't actually HAVE to do anything, and at least some paranoid people will give them credit for whatever happens anyway :~D

Hi voteNRA,

Scary stuff. Wondering why KSTP was reporting the Hennepin Ave. bridge was closed and not an option for Twins fans leaving the game.

Do you know if that’s closed for construction?
