While I pray deaths and injuries are at a minimum, you gotta know that there will be a lot of work to remove rubble and rebuild. The fed dollars will be a shot in the arm here for some time to come.

No, Fairview & the U hospital are not the same.

There are quite a few of Fairview hospitals in the cities, but the one they are referring to is close to the scene.

Exactly and the twins had 10 to 50 thousand fans in the stadium right by the site.

Ha! Ha! 50 thou, not likely, we're talking about playing Kansas City here, definitely not a large attraction.

If we’re talking a numbers game, they were satisfied with only hundreds in the Spanish train bombing and the London subway bombings. They’ve changed their tactics lately. Many smaller terrorist acts = one big blast.

I was in downtown Minneapolis about a half hour before the collapse.

I took 35W south out of downtown.

I havent seen anything hysterical here.

Except for Shepherd Smith on Fox news. Gosh I dislike him more and more.

A few asking could it be terrorism. That's a valid question. Not likely, but valid.

The Dept. of Homeland Security has just discounted the likelihood of terrorism.
It's engineering or structural.

I hope it isn’t a terrorist attack...bridges were a big concern after 9/11!

Surprised no one is even suggesting the possibility.

Shep said early on that Homeland Security said this did not "APPEAR" to be a terrorist attack...............

Things make you go "hmmmmmmmmmmmmm"

One assumes it was thoroughly engineered; however, in that picture, to my eye, the vertical steel supports directly over the concrete pylons appear...skinny....as they are no thicker than the members forming the trangles within the truss structure(s). My implication being: The members within and forming the triangles within truss structures are either overspec'ed or the verticals directly over the concrete pylons are underspec'ed because the triangles are pretty much just in compression whereas the verticals are not only in similar compression, but have to support the weight of the whole thing. Disclosure: I'm not a structural engineer.
