Just turned on the news. 35W bridge collapsed in the Mississippi River. Cars, trucks, semis.....
Fires burning, tanker trucks, at least one school bus, more than ten cars......
Just now breaking.......

While I agree with your distrust of the statement, I disagree that its irresponsible. There's a stadium full of people just a couple of blocks away. Don't need any more deaths from a panic.
Just a couple of notes:
- The Minneapolis airport was where the Muslim cabbie incident occurred a couple of months ago (the airport commission refused to allow cabbies to refuse fares because they might be carrying alcohol)
- The bridge next to the collapsed bridge has no traffic on it. Precautionary?
Colmes is on now. He is actually not doing too bad. I imagine O’Reilly left in a huff since he couldn’t do his reg. show and Colmes is willing to cover it.

There are certainly some cameras of some type in the area of the bridge. If so, it would be prudent to look at the tapes, if any, to see what was on the bridge at the time of collapse. That would help the rescue/recovery teams in looking for specific vehicles. The sooner they do this, the better. I hope that no one was killed, but that may be the case. It would be a miracle if there were no fatalities.

The point is that you don't know...neither does Homeland Security. Is is not reassuring that Homeland Security has a policy of denying terrorism ASAP. That's part of why we all think HS is run by morons. In a real terrorist attack, they will be the last ones to figure it out, and the last ones to act.
Im no bridge engineer either, but it is my understanding that wind induced resonance is generally only a problem on suspension bridges

They didn’t cancel today’s game in order to prevent aggravating the traffic situation.
An announcement will be made at tonight’s game appraising fans of the bridge situation.

Cell phones are jammed. Everyone is on them trying to get a hold of loved ones.
We (Mpls residents of 612 cell phones) are told to stay off of cell phones until 7:30 AM tomorrow morning.

Different highway 35. Interstate 35 in MN does not go through Ohio.

They haven’t denied it. The quote I heard was that “they have no reason to believe” it is a terrorist act. That’s not a denial.
In fact, it’s nothing, really. They’re unwilling to say anything until they know something. Why is that bad?
