It’s amazing when you look back at the 1900’s here in America, women had so many children. Just amazing. I understand that in Mexico the national average is 2 kids per woman, but guess what the average Mexican birthrate is when they come to America? 6.
Yes, times have certainly changed. My parents were born in 1900 (Dad) and 1911 (Mom), each into large families. I had 20 sets of aunts and uncles (most passed on now) and approximately 90 first cousins. That kind of growth in population, useful in a rural, farming community, could not be sustained now, but I would never fault anyone for having more than 2.4 children as long as they can support and educate them.
That's because all of us suckers pay a truckload of taxes to support them.
I don't know where one could get figures on this, since Mexican-Americans are not listed as such in the U.S. Census, and it would be pretty hard to get reliable figures on people who crossed the border illegally.
I'm not saying it's not true. It's just that I could make good use of a source or a link.
Over in Mexico, they have to feed their kids through their own work. Here the Gringos feed the kids
