It's just not that common in the GSMNP. It wasn't the first and won't be the last. It's definitely a 'Honorable Mention' in conversations in our areas.It was enough to rattle the knick knacks off the wall.
We were on the deck lighting the barbecue and didn't feel any movement, but we all got dizzy for a few seconds.
People in CA would probably sleep right through a small trembler like that, but it sure got our attention! LOL

dawn53: damn quick and accurate!!! Crud.. the epicenter is about 45 miles from me!! I live in Chiba city... Why couldn`t NHK get that info to me that quick... (kinda funny (but not).. when I turned on the NHK news.. they had a live ENGLISH lesson about the earthquake (which didn`t give any useful/up to date information... they just wanted to let the people know how to say `earthquake`in Japanese... :/

I thought I must be tired (I was a Deputy Sheriff at the time)... then I noticed my pictures on the wall swaying too... can`t imagine that too, so I thought... called dispatch and asked if they had any calls about an explosion... She said, “No... but we`ve had about 15 calls about an earthquake”... I almost spoiled my pants then... WEST Texas doesn`t HAVE earthquakes.... guess I was wrong (BTW.. compared to here... scale 1 to 10.. it was a minus 10!)

Was bigger than I am used to... biggest I have ever seen was in boot camp (USAF) in San Antonio, although I have heard there are larger ones... never had terrorist roaches before I came to Japan though >.<
