We were in Germany when this happened and it was awful being so far from home during the next week. The military bases went immediately to “delta” and everything locked down tight as you can imagine. I had nothing to do but sit for the next few days and watch this- wall to wall, 24/7. I sat there, hunched over and sobbing and feeling the most terrible anger I had ever experienced.
I hope we NEVER forget how we felt, because if the cretins have their way we just might experience this again.
We were staying close to the airport and when the flights were grounded, it was spooky quiet....
We left for home that very week and traveled by car across country ....no flights available and I don't we would have flown if we could.
All across America on our trip folks were flying the flag....every building, office, home & bridge, it seemed.
I will never forget it.

..Like the woman, I was sobbing...(even with the time difference, I found the news on Free Republic before I turned on the TV)
When the first tower started falling, my husband & I turned off the TV and prayed for all those lives and families....
..and for our own families, not knowing what this meant for our country.
My husband was getting ready for work and I turned on the computer (Free Republic) and told him something strange was happening....all flights are canceled....(that's where we came in)
He thought I was making it up, until we turned on the TV.
