I think he has a point. Are we allowed to kill animals or not?

What part of dog-fighting being a felony do you not understand?

Dog fighting is considered cruelty to animals and rightfully so.

You’re absolutely right. I know hunters who shoot the legs out from deer and then slash them with razors until they die a slow, painful death.

When I catch a fish, especially a short, I make sure that I rip the hook out of its guts before I throw it back to die.

If I can’t keep it, why should I let it live?

Deliberate cruelty is horrendous and inhuman.

I eat meat. I love fishing. Anyone who cannot understand the difference between killing a chicken for food and betting on cockfights is too dense to understand anything.

You are not allowed to fight dogs in Virigina and there are serious penalties if you should.

We are allowed to kill animals as quickly and cleanly as possible.

We are not allowed to torture them or otherwise intentionally inflict pain on them for our jollies.

People who do torture animals and hurt them for fun are people who will do the same to their fellow human beings given the opportunity.

WE do not hang, electrocute or slam dogs into the ground. WE don’t take little puppies or stray dogs and feed them to fighting dogs for bait and to get a taste for flesh. WE are not allowed to run an illegal operation which not only includes canine abuse and murder but illegal gambling, drugs, money laundering, etc.

‘’’’’’’’’’’’’’’’’’’’’’’’’’’’’’’’

Just another example of how deep the erosion of our freedoms have become. Women have the “right” to choose to murder their unborn children while property owners cannot use their property in ways they deem appropriate. We slaughter cows, pigs, chickens, etc. at our whim by the millions while Vick can’t fight legally purchased dog’s on his own legally purchased property. What business is it of government what he does with his dog’s on his land?
I would never view or wager on a dog fight, but I believe in our private property rights to do so if we choose.

It appears that on April 4 of this year, one sadistic SOB joined FreeRepublic.

You aren't really attempting moral equivalence of cruel torture of animals with the killing of animals for food are you?

It’s unethical to cause unnecessary harm. It is the usual proper function of law to protect the innocent.

The question is not if we are allowed to kill animals but, rather, whether society allows us to torture animals to death.

When I kill a king salmon, I kill it quickly by hitting it over the head with a small club and rendering it unconscious and then cutting the gill arteries and letting it bleed to death quickly over the side of the boat.

I do not kill a king salmon slowly by torturing it and filleting it while it is still alive.

"Are we allowed to kill animals or not?"

Dog fighting is animal abuse - the dogs tear each other apart. Killing for food is one thing. Deliberate cruelty is another.
