FLORIDA LOSES DEMOCRAT VOTE
Nealz Nuze/WSB Radio ^ | August 27, 2007 | Nel Boortz

Florida decided to change its primary date to January 29th. Democrat Party rules say that the states can't hold their primaries before February 5th, except for Iowa, Nevada, New Hampshire and South Carolina. This was designed to "preserve the traditional roles" of selecting nominees.

On Saturday, Democrats decided to strip Florida of all of its presidential convention delegates unless it changed its date. This means that the fourth largest state (210 delegates) would not have votes for the 2008 nominating convention in Denver next summer.

The state party has been given 30 days to comply by moving the primary after February 5th.

Florida's congressional delegation says that this may be cause for a voting rights investigation.

What fun. While they're at it, perhaps they can strip some votes from all states with a large military presence. That's what the Democrat Party tried to do in Florida in 2000!

I think that there’s something fishy going on, that they would be so dismissive of a large chunk of their support. Dirty deals are being done dirt cheap in a smokey backroom somewhere, and it smells of Clintonesque tactics.

They ought to arrange something fair in the primaries. Maybe have sequential primaries, one state from each region, with the order of the states rotating each election cycle. Let New Hampshire stay first just because they’ll go bonkers if they don’t and it is one of the states small enough to have retail politics matter.

Greg F has spoken. The parties must now accept my Authoritae.

Yeah, whod’ve expected this sort of thing from the “tolerant”, even handed Jackass party.

It might backfire on them come general election time.

I’m curious as to which of the weasels it would hurt the most if FL’s delegates don’t contribute to the primary process. I really have no idea.

New Hampshire has always been, and will always be, the first primary state. Florida’s action was a direct challenge to the historic status quo that has prevailed since the primary system was devised by delegates from New Hampshire.

If other states want to play a game of primary chicken with New Hampshire, they’re welcome to bump their dates back until the New Hampshire primary takes place before the previous presidential election. They will not have their primaries before New Hampshire in any case.

Is this legal or Constitutional? Where does the DNC get this authority?

Perhaps they’re concerned that Florida won’t nominate the desired candidate.

Is this post for real? What does the Constitution have to do with it?????Why does the DNC need any "authority" to make ANY ruling regarding the conduct of the Democrat party? They ARE the "authority"!

Personally I hate the primary process. Iowa should not determine who the national canidate is. And New Hampshire? There should be one day in April or May where the entire nation gets to vote. And if the precious Iowans or New Hampshire residents don’t like it, tough.

If the democrat primary doesn’t count, then the democrats can change their registration to republican, and Rudy will easily win the primary. And they know any democrat will be Rudy.

So it really isn’t a bad strategy for them.

Perhaps they’re concerned that Florida won’t nominate the desired cowardly, leftist crook! There, that’s better.

Right. That's my point. They're only losing Florida's democrat presidential convention delegates. So they'll get to pick the nominee without Florida's input. Perhaps they like it better that way.

Yes this action by the DNC is legal and constitutional.

As far as where they get the authority, the election laws and the constutition do not say anything about how to select delegates to a political party convention. That is what this dispute is all about, as to when Florida picks it delegates to the Democrat convention. There is no constitutional right to participate in a primary election to pick delegates to a party convention.

So the Democrat party can do whatever they want. Not all states even have pres. primary elections to pick delegates to conventions.

Because it is a party election, not a government election. They can set whatever rules they want.

Hmmm.... I guess this means there putting all their eggs in the Ohio basket, and relying on the Milwaukee fraud machine to keep holding on to Wisconsin.

[Is this post for real? What does the Constitution have to do with it.]

A democrat is not a democrat, they are Democratic ergo they have the authority as the lone party which believes in Democracy.

Just read ANY article about a democrat and it will state ie:

Democratic Senator Blowhard said blah blah...

Democratically controlled Senate...

Democratic nominee...

Polls say most people will vote Democratic...

Solution to above?
Change the name of the Republican Party BACK to: The Democratic Republican Party

This may confuse the democrat voting block the democrats rely on but if they are educated they won’t have a problem.
