Washington Com-Post’s radio experiment ended in failure...
More from the article:
“The station will air some programs that began under WTWP, including its locally originated morning program, hosted by David Burd and Jessica Doyle, and Pat Goss’s automotive program. The station also will continue to carry Nationals baseball games through the end of this season. The team has no radio or TV deals lined up for next year.
“As reported yesterday, WTWP, which features journalists from The Post, failed to generate enough interest from listeners and advertisers. It will end its run 18 months after signing on.
“In an e-mail message to The Post’s newsroom, Executive Editor Leonard Downie Jr. yesterday called Post Radio “a noble experiment.” He wrote that the station “had a loyal and enthusiastic core of listeners, whose numbers were growing, but that growth was not as rapid as we and Bonneville had hoped to see.”
“The newspaper does not expect to lay off any members of the small in-house department that helps produce The Post’s radio and TV projects.”
3 conservatives, 1 liberal. Guess who won’t have enough advertising revenue to support the program and will have to be supplemented by the rest?
I would suggest a little better business plan. Air America found out that Left and Whatever We Want didn’t work. I’d suggest Left, Right and Whatever We Want won’t either.
What will work is Whatever the largest segment of the local listener’s want. And that’s probably going to turn out to be Right...
as long as the Nats games are still on. Liberalism makes everything boring, it was NPR without the Celestial Seasonings overtones. Good Riddance.
Stephanie Miller.
At least she's not the typical looking lib. Like Rosie, Whoopie, Jeanine, et. al.
“and one with liberal Stephanie Miller.”
Who?
Speaking strictly from an entertainment point of view, Stephanie Miller is a horrible choice, her show is one of the most obnoxious on the air, kinda like a really really bad morning show. There are much more entertaining liberal talk shows out there that would at least draw advertisers if not a few listeners also. Miller has a hard time drawing flies.
I like listening to David Burd (USMC Vet) and enjoyed him on WMAL, however with WaPo radio there are traffic reports at 15 and 45 after the hour.....to Dang infrequent for commuting in DC. In the morning traffic info is a MUST and WMAL and WTOP have it every 10 min (on the fives and eights) and thus I listen to them. Especially Fred and Andy. In the afternoons WaPo was deadly dull, newswriters make lousy on-air voices.
Liberals already have a network - it’s called National Public Radio.
BTW, who is Stephanie Miller? Never heard of her.
