The Birth of al Qaedastan

In the year 2016, the world may find itself gloomily marking September 6 as the tenth anniversary of the creation of the Islamic Emirate of Waziristan. The Emirate received de facto recognition when the Taliban used the name on the ceasefire agreement they signed with Pakistan on that day in 2006. If things go terribly wrong in the coming decade, they could come to rule a mountainous fragment of Pakistan and Afghanistan.

The Emirate would be a nightmare state: Osama bin Laden as sultan, Ayman al Zawahiri as vizier, and Mullah Omar the spiritual leader. An economy built on smuggling and heroin. Primary export: terrorism. Welcome to ‘Al Qaedastan’.

Analysts say the rise of a terrorist state straddling the rugged area between Pakistan and Afghanistan is now viable. The reason is a number of troubling trends. One, the revival of a Taliban firmly in the control of Al Qaeda. Two, the seeming inability of either Kabul or Islamabad to defeat the new threat militarily. Pipeline attacks in Mexico. Just heard via Fox:

Blasts hit Mexico oil company pipelines

" MEXICO CITY — Six explosions ripped apart pipelines for Mexico's state oil monopoly early Monday, the company said. The blasts were believed to be sabotage and 12,000 people were evacuated afterward.

A small, left-wing guerrilla group claimed to have attacked a major gas pipeline for the Mexican state oil monopoly Petroleos Mexicanos, or Pemex, in July and at the time at least a dozen major companies were forced to suspend or scale back operations.

Pemex issued a statement saying it believed Monday's explosions were also sabotage. Government officials said 12,000 people were evacuated after the blasts."

This has been my concern since hearing about Mexican trucks traveling freely here in the US. Are they being checked, each and every one, for explosives, chemicals, (nukes) ?

Mexican dynamite truck explodes; 37 die

PIEDRAS NEGRAS, Mexico - A truck carrying explosives for the mining industry exploded after running into another vehicle in northern Mexico, killing at least 37 people, a federal police official said Monday.

The two cars collided Sunday evening on a highway in Coahuila state, near the town of Sacramento, Luis Horacio de Hoyos said.

Soldiers, police, emergency officials, nearby residents and reporters were on the scene when the vehicle suddenly caught fire, igniting the truck full of explosives.

Maximo Alberto Neri Lopez, a federal police official, said 37 people were killed and 150 were injured. He said the explosion left a 3-meter by 15-meter crater in the concrete.

De Hoyos said three newspaper reporters from the city of Monclova were among the dead.

They are stating it is a video tape it will be a last testament that will be released tomoorrow. Yes they have released them before but I don’t think OBL has released a tape with them at least not since 9/11
