UPDATE - apparently Megahed didn't get too far:

SNIP:
A judge set bail at $200,000 for one of the defendants, Youssef Megahed, but the government immediately appealed, which means Megahed will remain in custody.

German jihadist bomb suspect worked at airport
Feel safer? Ain’t political correctness grand?

“Bomb suspect worked at airport,” from News24.com (thanks to the Constantinopolitan Irredentist):

Berlin - One of three men arrested in Germany on suspicion of plotting major bomb attacks worked at Frankfurt airport, one of the alleged targets, according to the weekly Der Spiegel.

The report to be published on Monday said Adem Y, a Turk, had been employed from 1997 to 2002 by German railways, working in particular in the department handling freight at Frankfurt airport station.

The three arrested on September 5, who also included two Germans converted to Islam, were suspected of planning “massive” attacks on facilities used by Americans, among them Frankfurt airport and the US military airbase at Ramstein.

Federal prosecutor Monika Harms said they were members of the Islamic Jihad Union, a little-known group from Uzbekistan with links to al-Qaeda.

The Sunni Muslim group said the aim of the planned attacks had been to put pressure on Germany to withdraw its soldiers stationed at the Termez base in southern Uzbekistan, according to the German interior ministry.

More diplomacy by intimidation. In both its violent and its peaceful forms, it’s all the rage these days.

“German authorities report lack of Muslim cooperation in antiterrorism fight”

“Tiny Minority of Extremists Update from TradingMarkets.com (thanks to Twostellas).”

ARTICLE SNIPPET: “Berlin - The lack of cooperation of Muslim communities with the security authorities remains a weak point of the fight against terrorism in Germany. Six years after the attacks on 11 September 2001, according to a survey of the news agency ddp in all federal laender, the authorities can hardly count on active support from Muslim communities. In 2007, they have received practically no specific information on “radicalized fellow believers, on recruiters of terrorist organizations, or on planned attacks.”

Why is that? Whenever someone says something like this in the U.S., Muslim spokesmen charge that they are helping, they are working against terror, but they don’t get any coverage in the press for such efforts. But this is the word of German authorities, who have every interest in playing up the extent of Muslim cooperation.

Yet still, this question, Why not?, as crucial as it is, will not even be asked, or if asked, will be answered by charges of offensive, hyper-suspicious behavior on the part of German authorities.

In response to the key question of whether they had active help this year in the form of tips from Muslim communities, the answer was almost entirely a clear no.”

Germans Warned Of Terrorist Attack
September 16, 2007

The risk of a terrorist attack in Germany, possibly even a nuclear strike, is high despite the recent arrest of suspected Islamist militants, Interior Minister Wolfgang Schaeuble told a newspaper.

"The terrorist threat has not diminished," Schaeuble told the Frankfurter Allgemeine Sonntagszeitung, according to extracts published in advance. "I am no less worried since the arrests. We know more precisely that we are in the crosshairs of Islamist terrorism ... the terrorists want to carry out more attacks," he said.

Schaeuble even warned of the danger of a nuclear attack, although it was not clear if he was referring to Germany specifically. "Many experts are convinced this kind of attack is a question of when, not if," he told the paper.

Last week, Germany said its security forces had foiled a plan by Islamist militants to carry out massive bomb attacks. On September 4 police arrested three men suspected of belonging to an Islamist terrorist group and who, officials said, were planning strikes on Frankfurt international airport and a major US military base.

Schaeuble wants to introduce new measures to combat the threat from international terrorism, but opposition is high in Germany where curtailing civil liberties is very sensitive more than 60 years after the fall of Nazism.

Article snippet from your post 1400, Oorang.

"Three developments are feeding the growth of "al Qaedastan." One is a resurrected, more militant Taliban, which is supplanting traditional Pashtun chiefs in the border areas with its radical clerics. The second is the increasing number of global Islamic militant groups who are taking up residence there. The third is the inability of either Kabul or Islamabad to marshal a credible military response."

Not a good situation, in my opinion.

An Albanian national, holding a Croatian Passport, was arrested after he tried to smuggle a fully loaded hand gun through the airport security. He hid the gun in his lap-top bag and managed to pass the initial security screening. The man was arrested and handed-over to the anti-terrorist special forces prior to boarding. He was about to board the scheduled daily JU flight from BEG to TIA.

Belgrade Airport has elevated its security measures following the attack on GLA Airport, but also over the continuing Kosovo Crisis.

“Al-Qaeda: Bounty on Swedish cartoonist’s head”

“Iraq’s al-Qaeda offers $150,000 prize for the killing of Swedish cartoonist, editor who published cartoon depicting Prophet Muhammad as dog”
Associated Press
Published: 09.15.07, 18:23 / Israel News

ARITCLE SNIPPET: “The leader of al-Qaeda in Iraq offered money for the murder of a Swedish cartoonist and his editor, who recently produced images deemed insulting to Islam, according to a statement carried by Islamist websites Saturday.

“We are calling for the assassination of cartoonist Lars Vilks who dared insult our Prophet, peace be upon him, and we announce a reward during this generous month of Ramadan of $100,000 for the one who kills this criminal,” the transcript on the website said.

In a half-hour audio file entitled “They plotted yet God too was plotting,” Abu Omar al-Baghdadi also named rival insurgent groups in Iraq and promised new attacks, particularly against the minority Yazidi sect.

Blown out of proportion

The al-Qaeda leader upped the reward for Vilks’ death to $150,000 if he was “slaughtered like a lamb” and offered $50,000 for the killing of the editor of Nerikes Allehanda, the Swedish paper that printed Vilks’ cartoon of the Prophet Muhammad with a dog’s body on August 19th.””

Renowned Beijing Church Leader Cai Zhuohua Released after Three Years Imprisonment for distributing Bibles
Forced Labor for Olympics Products Imposed

BEIJING, CHINA (ANS) — China Aid Association (CAA) has revealed that jailed Beijing house church leader Cai Zhuohua was released from prison on September 10, 2007. (Beijing Time)

According to Cai’s mother, to whom CAA has talked, Pastor Cai arrived at his home at 1pm. She said that he “looked well” and was in “good spirits” although he was not allowed to have or read a Bible during the past three years.

“In his prison, Cai was forced to make soccer 10 to 12 hours a day for the 2008 Beijing Olympics,” said a CAA spokesperson.

Pastor Cai asked CAA to thank all the brothers and sisters who have been praying and helping him and his family members during his imprisonment time.

“The love of the Lord and the prayers by the saints sustained my life in the prison,” he said.

CAA, which is based in Midland, Texas, has been helping for pastor Cai’s legal defense and his family support.

After his release, CAA revealed, Cai was warned not to speak up. He has to report to the Public Security Bureau (PSB) office once a month. He was taken to the PSB office again on September 13 with more warnings and intimidations.

“He feels (after the PSB talked with him) he won’t have any freedom even after his release,” said his mother, who is also a dedicated house church leader.

On November 8, 2005 Pastor Cai was sentenced to three years in jail on charges relating to “illegal business practices” and fined 150,000 Yuan ($19,957.42 USD). His wife Xiao Yunfei was sentenced to two years and fined 120,000 Yuan ($15,965.94 USD). Her brother Xiao Gaowen was given an 18 month sentence and fined 100,000 Yuan ($13,304.95 USD).

Cai was arrested September 11, 2004 at a bus stop, where he was dragged into a van by state security officers. Authorities were shocked to find more than 200,000 pieces of printed Christian literature including Bibles in a storage room managed by Cai. In China, only the Chinese government sanctioned church (The Three-Self Patriotic Movement) is allowed to print and distribute Bibles.

In recent years, Chinese authorities have tried house church leaders under Article 225 of China’s Criminal Law, which makes it a crime for anyone to commit “illegal acts in business operation and thus disrupt market order.” In 1998, the Supreme People’s Court issued the Explanation Regarding Certain Questions About the Specific Laws to be Used in Adjudicating Criminal Cases of Illegal Publications, which allows courts to use Article 225 to imprison anyone who “publishes, prints, copies, or distributes illegal publications.”

Another house church leader in Xinjiang Zhou Heng was formally arrested last week for the same charge because he was caught receiving 3 tons of bibles from another city.

“Since Pastor Cai has already served an unjustified three years sentence, to continue to restrict his freedom of movement is a violation of Chinese own law,” said Bob Fu, President of CAA and a former co-worker of Pastor Cai. “We urge the international community to continue to press the worsening situation on religious freedom and human rights in China.”

Perhaps I am missing something, and this is some kind of joke, but it was posted publicly, and there is no reference to a joke, so I am left to take it at face value, and I think I have to speak up here: Your post strikes me as being remarkably rude and arrogant. I don’t know what “us” you are talking about, and I want it clear that you are not speaking for me.
May I recommend you do a “CLT-F” using the phrase “posted on” for your “Find:”? This will allow you to just jump and click through each post. In the meantime, please drop your posts into a Word document for grammar/punctuation corrections before posting. Your post contained no less than 41 grammatical errors, and reading it gave me a headache and I sure don’t want to charge you for the Advil.
