Psst - ever hear of Salmon Pac? Or do you think Iraq was the ONLY country that did not have AQ?

John, I’m glad he hasn’t voted to raise taxes, gun control or an unbalanced budget (though that last one I have less concern over).

His answer on Iraq, terrorism, etc defied reality of the world today. If his answers tonight were given on September 10th, 2001 I would really look at this guy. But for him to give those answers today is really beyond belief to me. It leads me to believe the man is not in touch with reality, it really does.

I just realized after that last one that billbears has been pulling our legs.. the old illustrating absurdity by being absurd.. showing just how absurd the Paulites are by making absurd comments like how free and representative Germany and Japan were before WWII gave it away.. sounds about as nutty as Paul saying that 9.11 was our fault and tonite’s comment that national security isn’t the government’s job.

He ignored my comment about the Emperor of Japan. I guess your reasoning is why.

Those countries all had pre-existing traditions that were favorable to democracy.

Spreading democracy is the vision of Woodrow Wilson -- not any real conservative. Empire is a losing proposition.

We'll go bankrupt before we see lasting success in Iraq.

Not just Al Qaeda.. the 9.11 commission report listed about 12 different terrorist organizations that Iraq sponsored.. they may not have been behind 9.11, but they sponsored the greater issuer of Islamic Terrorism.. just because the names of the offending group may be different doesn’t make the threat any less. If you follow the logic of some of these Paulbearers, then all Osama has to do is change the name of Al Quaeda to FuzzyWuzzies and bam, the FuzzyWuzzies weren’t behind 9.11 so we can’t go after them..

But they did have a representative form of government before WWII. Not much different than a monarch with a representative form of government that brings the desires of the people to the monarch.

Whether the monarch listened or not all the time is not important. Representative government did exist.

He is correct re Germany. The Weimar Republic was a representative government (a lot of socialist pussies, though).

You were obviously educated in some poor public school, if you believe Japan and Germany had 'pre-existing traditions that were favorable to democracy.'

I would also point out how long it took us to get it right - and we did have those traditions.

Knight Ridder reporters Jonathan S. Landay and Warren P. Strobel noted in November 2005 that "After the war, U.S. officials determined that a facility in Salman Pak was used to train Iraqi anti-terrorist commandos."[Seattle Times, 1 November 2005, p. A5]. And PBS Frontline - who originally carried many of the allegations of Iraqi defectors - similarly noted that "U.S. officials have now concluded that Salman Pak was most likely used to train Iraqi counter-terrorism units in anti-hijacking techniques."

I put all this energy into responding when you are just illustrating absurdity by being absurd.. Sorry I didn't get that earlier..

What did Hitler burn down in 1933 again? Who met there? Remind me again....

And you people are heaping abuse on Ron Paul? He's always opposed open-borders, importing illiterate Third Worlders, putting the world on welfare via the U.N., bringing Muslims who hate our country into this country.

*************

Ron Paul blames our country for 9/11. Defend that.
