Do you hate the NRA when it lobbies on behalf of law-abiding gun owners?

I think Fred would have handled that whole “macaca” episode quite differently. I am quite certain that there would have been no “macaca” episode in the first place.

I believe that Fred is very media savvy. I think he will handle what they throw at him just fine.

Guess they have to go this far, when all his ex wives/girlfriends would ALL VOTE for Him... they’ll just have to keep digging.

What will happen when they find out ... he took the Pickles off his BIG MAC and threw them away?

Nah, they’ll dig up more. But don’t make the mistake of thinking that they don’t think of Fred as a threat or that getting in the race made much difference in how they attack him. They are scrambling to find whatever they can, but believe me, Fred ain’t George Allen.

Give Fred some time and watch him at work. :)

NATIONAL REVIEW; “Waiting on Fred” Aug 27 2007

The Supreme Court, and judicial issues in general, are Thompson’s strong suit. Not only does he have the background-the Watergate investigation, the Senate Judiciary Committee, private practice, and the job of guiding John Roberts through his confirmation hearings-he also knows the conservative legal stars who would likely be candidates for the Court in coming years. But he won’t name names, beyond the men already there, “I like Roberts and Alito and Scalia and Thomas” he tells me. “We’re in a heck of a lot better shape because of Roberts and Alito, and one more gain would put us in even better shape.” Should he become president, Thompson would undoubtedly try to nominate that elusive fifth conservative.

I think this is small potatoes, but this is the reason you don’t commit to people early. You never know what dirt they have managed to forget.

As for who the left fears, there is very little question they fear Romney the most — because it is, always has been, and always will be about money. Romney is running a crisp organization and raising all the money he will need. The pros in the DNC know that and fear that. In a year when RNC fundraising is poor, it will not affect Romney. The pros in the DNC know that and fear that. Andrew Tobias, the DNC Treasurer, has already commented on this.

Don't worry, Fred is going to wait until early April 2009 to give his Inauguration speech.

I didn’t discount his lobbying per se. I think that the volume of lobbying and the decades involved are a cause for concern. He was bought, plain and simple.

Did Thomson receive any money from a convicted criminal fugitive who was running from the law for 15 years while slipping right past secret service security team to get close to a presidential candidate?

I agree with you. I’m not buying my “happy days are here again” posters quite yet because Fred Thompson’s thrown his hat in the ring. The D’craps ARE going to nominate Hillary AND Hillary is a threat to win the whole ball of wax and we bettter get someone who can match this witch in the general election or this country’s in for BIG trouble !!!

Well it looks like Fred has outfoxed them again. He delayed his announcement all this and time the media made it sound like forever. And this is all they can come up with. Go Fred Go!

"I hate lobbyists."

Most folks would be surprised to know that they undoubtedly belong to some organization that employs professionals to lobby in DC or in the state, even in their own county.

Veterans organizaions, Chambers of Commerce, their local supermarket chains, their religious denominations, all employ lobbyists.

Or an average Joe may have a few or more shares in a mutual fund which invests in businesses and corporations employing lobbyists to look out for their interests.

Lobbying is part of any country's history and probably started right after The Fall.

It's an orderly and peaceful way for organizations, businesses, corporations, charities, etc. to exercise the right to petition the government on behalf of their groups or on behalf of individuals organized into groups.

As in any group, lobbyists can be honorable or corrupt. Unlike many other countries, the U.S. regulates lobbyists pretty well.....and bad eggs generally get exposed one way or the other.

When I held an elected public office, I frequently traveled to my state capitol to lobby on behalf of the county and/or the township I represented. I even lobbied for some things I was not too keen on, but it was my responsibility to do the job conscientiously and to the best of my ability.

Sure, but what does that have to do with the election?
