Police Release 9 Threatening Postcards
OCALA, Fla. -- Investigators in Marion County, Fla., are searching for the author of nine postcards sent to different schools on the same day with the words 'Jihad-Boom" and handwritten cartoons of a building apparently exploding with people inside.
Investigators released the postcards with the threatening drawings on them Monday in hopes of generating leads in the case.
Officials said that the postcards are made up of various and traditional themes, and each one has a distinctive hand-drawn cartoon on it. Several of the threats arrived on postcards featuring Walt Disney World.
Detectives said the threat-maker crossed his or her No. 7s and attached a suffix to the address. Six of the nine postcards spell the word "Jihad" correctly, while the others are incorrect.
The U.S. Postal Service said that the postcards were all mailed to the schools from the Ocala-Gainesville mailing district before the sixth anniversary of the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks.
A $10,000 reward has been issued to anyone who provides information which leads to the arrest and conviction of the person or persons responsible for using the postal service to mail the threatening postcards to schools.

“Jihad Boom”
I sense a new line of Hallmark Ramadan cards.
LOL! I have to get a grip on myself when I see them, because glaring is my first impulse, too. They're so creepy looking, especially the ones who wear the full bag with face mask (I see them occasionally in airports). And to think, they want all of us to look like that!
When I lived in Gainesville, there were some converts (at any rate, not Arabs) who would go to the women's gym there. They'd flap around in their robes doing the exercises. They're nuts.
Thank you.
Thanks, Alice.
Good to know, thanks.
Yes, I agree, the whole thing is disturbing.
Here is my take on the ‘writer.’ To me the printing looks masculine, but I am intrigued by the mixing of all upper and some lower case letters. The lower case ‘a’ is unique. I just looked at two of my kids’ school folders and they make lower case ‘a’ a circle with a line; not the hook with the circle on the postcard. The ‘2’ is ‘loopy’ too. There is also an uppercase ‘H’ and a lowercase ‘h.’ It is almost like each character was thought out and made to look unlike their ‘regular’ writing pattern. Hmmm...this is more than a little creepy.
The Koran
[10.10] Their cry in it shall be: Glory to Thee, O Allah! and their greeting in it shall be: Peace; and the last of their cry shall be: Praise be to Allah, the Lord of the worlds.
I will readily acknowledge a lack of FL geography, but how close is Marion County to where the Goose Creek 'yutes' lived. A renegade cell?
I’m pretty sure that calendar picture is supposed to depict another airplane crash, not the ones from 9/11. Note, for example, that it’s flying *away* from NYC.
Perhaps someone else on FR will be able to identify the plane it’s supposed to represent....
Looks like a 747 to me, and exploding over the water, the first thing that strikes me is Flight 800.
They did it with the damaged plane flying away because they didn’t yet have an actual photograph of 9/11.
If I recall correctly, there was a plane that crashed a year or two earlier. The co-pilot took the plane into the water, crying “Allahu Akbar” all the way. Does anyone remember that particular flight? I think that’s what this sick poster commemorates.
I think it’s probably a guy. I don’t think the printing looks foreign (I don’t see any of the odd things one often sees in foreign writing or printing), but it looks to me as if this person is accustomed to writing certain things, such as numbers and perhaps parts of addresses, in block letters. I’d say it’s somebody who fills out forms or has some job that requires him to write in this way.
I don’t think it’s a high-schooler playing a prank because of the postcards, which would not be a teenager’s way of going about it. The postcards were probably bought some place where they had been handled by many people in order to cover up the finger prints or any other trace of the writer of these threats.
It’s obviously somebody who knows the area, perhaps has read something about Muslims attacking schools, is feeling his jihadi oats at the start of Ramadamadingdong, and wants to get on the bandwagon. I doubt that this person could attack a school, but this certainly makes him feel powerful. And since Islam is all about power, I guess that makes him feel like a good Muslim...
My first thought was: "You thought 9-11 was bad? Wait until 10-10."
I don't like thinking of these things, but that's what comes to mind.
Ocala is about an hour and a half, two hours north of Tampa. The highway that is an alternate to the interstate passes through Dunellon, which is why I suspect this person may be a Tampa based individual who has occasion to drive to Ocala occasionally and perhaps make deliveries at these schools.
Either that, or he’s a nut living in his singlewide in the woods with his pack of dogs and his AK47, just feeling a little ignored by life.
Subject likely googled to find addresses of the schools. Just need to have Google see if anyone was searching...oh yeah, nevermind, Google does not cooperate with authorities.
How big of a story is this, btw, in FL?
That was Egyptian Air flight.. 99? That crashed into the water outside NY. Use searchword IslamicCalendar to find the thread.
