That trooper left his loaded gun in her car while having sex, where young children later found it, and also had affairs with two other women.

He left his loaded gun where children found it. Honestly, you could not script this stuff for movie, theatrical or print venues.

Maybe you could. If I were scripting, I think I’d rearrange some wording in the above...

So he left his gun in the car? What about his weapon? Did a 1st grader write this story?

He left his loaded gun in her car? How awful. What about his service sidearm?

Sometimes you just too busy with family life to get everything done at home and you have to take care of it “on the job”.

Yeah, you never know what kids will get up to these days.

This is my rifle, this is my gun...
(for some stupid reason that phrase has been going through my head for a week, now I see it had a purpose. ;))

If I were scripting, I think Id rearrange some wording in the above... If the children used it in connection with those two other women, wouldn't that be rape, rather than affairs?
Or, were the other women so impressed that the kids had a cop's gun...?
Lots of script possibilities from this.

Oh c’mon, it’s just sex!! What’s the big deal, everybody does it!
Move on, nothing to see here.

If all the troopers who had sex in their patrol cars were fired there would be a shortage of troopers.
If all the troopers who had sex in their patrol cars were laid end-to-end there would be fewer cases of trooper rage.

This is all so wrong. Not the sex, per se, but the entire disdain for rules or laws among the enforcers of the law.

While I understand the Judge’s reasoning, it sets a dangerous precedence. In effect the Highway Patrol can now never fire a Trooper for having sex on the job because they did not do so in the past. At some point one has to say enough is enough, but this ruling would not allow that. Instead Troopers now know they can have sex on the job without fear of being fired.
