What a bunch of rubbish. And a waste of time and taxpayers money. Obviously any long journey would require advance preparation. Considering this was a yearly trip, it was probably to appease the hunting gods for another good hunting trip/season/year. After they sacrificed a kid, they went hunting and ate well, stored up the year/seasons supply of dried meat, and ate well until the next year/season came and it was time to go hunting again, stopping by to feed the god of hunting so they had another successful hunting trip. But that's too simple for the ancient culture freaks. They have to invent something a little more exciting to fit their fantasies of complicated rituals that could only be done by a super advanced intelligent Inca race who were obviously far more cultured than we are now. (but if they were, why do something so barbaric as sacrifice kids to a volcano?)
I get the feeling that some of these researchers love to imagine themselves back in Incan times ... of course as the rulers, not the slaves.
This country funds the sacrifice of infants to the myths of liberalism every day by the hundreds. Overpopulation myths, etc. Like the volcano gods and rain gods of the past the modern western world has adopted a climate god and an angry red utopian god, to which they are sacrificing entire economies, plus the liberties, health and eventually the lives of countless people for the benefit of a small and powerful international elite.
The more things change, the more they stay the same.
