Ann Coulter Shocks Cable TV Show, Declaring 'Jews Need to Be Perfected by Becoming Christians'
FOX ^ | 10/11/07 | Unknown

Slash-and-burn columnist Ann Coulter shocked a cable TV talk-show audience Monday when she declared that Jews need to be "perfected" by becoming Christians, and that America would be better off if everyone were Christian.

Coulter made the remarkable statements during an often heated appearance to promote her new book on advertising guru Danny Deutsch's CNBC show "The Big Idea."

In response to a question from Deutsch asking Coulter if "it would be better if we were all Christian," the controversial columnist responded: "Yes."

"We should all be Christian?" Deutsch repeated.

"Yes," Coulter responded, asking Deutsch, who is Jewish, if he would like to "come to church with me."

Deutsch, pressing Coulter further, asked, "We should just throw Judaism away and we should all be Christians?" She responded: "Yeah."

Coulter deflected Deutsch's assertion that her comments were anti-Semitic, matter-of-factly telling the show's obviously upset host, "That is what Christians consider themselves: perfected Jews."

Since you know that the Temple burned 2000 years ago which ended the era of “Temple centered worship” why did you feel the need to call today’s Jews “Talmudic Jews?” And since your statement was quite hostile and derogatory towards your named “Talmudic Jews,” [”I maintain for all practical purposes there is NOTHING she could have said to keep from provoking Talmudic Jews without actually denying her faith”],and since by your own definition all post Temple Jews, ie for the last 2000 years, are “Talmudic Jews” I took that as a negative reference to Jews and their holy texts.

Today since the Temple is long gone Jews are just known as Jews, no adjective required.

But if you must use one the preferred terms are Orthodox, Conservative and Reformed. There is the rare Karaite as well.

I too have a significant Jewish experience. My conclusion about Jews is they are like any other people; there are some you would die for and some you want to spit at.

Other than that the pious Jew is to be respected as they carry values of justice, generosity and hospitality.

The secular Jew like Deutsche (although he misled by claiming to be practicing) is like the so-called Christian that goes to Church once or twice a year to be with ‘the herd’. They are mostly frauds.

As far as your wife’s family voting democrat because they fear the Christian right in the Republican party, tell ‘em I think Dobson is a moron and tell ‘em this also even though it is rude, they are morons too, and please tell ‘em I said so and I will take any of them on here in this forum.

Here’s why:

Jews don’t like to be around Christians or have it shoved in their face. That’s understandable. And that’s why they should vote for Fred Thompson, not because he isn’t Christian but because he is a federalist and federalism is what this country needs yesterday.

If Jewish morons continue to support the democrat party they will continue to become marginalized as a group because conservatives and swing voters are not going to allow Hillary Clinton to run this country. And if by fraud or whatever that person gets into the Oval Office, then you can bet the post-Hillary Clinton era is going to be deadly to anything democrat. People are going to remember her more than they ever remembered her philandering liar of a husband. She is meanness personified.

Ask your wife’s democrat family just why the Christian right is taken so seriously today? How did they get so much power? A large reason is Bill Clinton. If most Jews vote for his wife the Christian base, the republican base, the conservative base and Reagan democrats are going to bury democrats.

Tell them to read up on Fred Thompson, get the Federalist Papers and get reading, understand what federalism is, why we need to decentralize the federal government.

And tell ‘em to grow a pair and stop being so ‘sensitive’. For crissakes they live in America and have the right to tell obnoxious people calling themselves Christians to buzz off.

(on why Jewish people do not proselytize)

It is just not an issue at all. I really do feel it has a lot to do with the “chosen people” concept, being confident in their beliefs and quite willing to allow others to believe differently.

There is quite a bit of insecurity expressed when one feels the need to get others to think like they do.

How about “hey, you like what you do, I like what I do. That’s cool.”

Personally, I am offended by bigots who feel only their way is right, whether it be their religion, lifestyle or their computer.

Not that she believes it, but that she feels that saying this on TV for a reaction would somehow help ANYTHING (conservatism, her religion, you name it) or even have some kind of positive effect. It is getting altogether too “hip” to bash Jews.

My disgust stems from my belief that she's saying it to bolster her reputation as a bombthrower. Read the thread, it's probably 8-1 pro-Ann, this would be a better country if Jews became Christians.

More book sales, good for Ann.

And shame on Ann, even as she struts to the bank.

>>>>So stating Christian doctrine is now shocking? That says more about our society than it does about Ann.

Not even stating Christian doctrine. Apparently inviting someone to church is now considered anti-Semitic.

So, why is it wrong for Ann to say what she and other Christians believe, and for Jews to say what they believe?

I understand perosnal beliefs, but are you really telling me that as a function of their faith Christians believe America would be a better nation if the Jews here became Christians.

Perhaps Ann shouldn't be taken seriously, but that supposition, which in a serious moment I doubt Ann would defend, is what is under discussion.

Not your belief that I would benefit by accepting Christ, but the belief that if I and all Jews would accept Christ this would be a better nation.

It's offensive.

And out of keeping with the traditions of our nation.

Are you OK Ma'aam?

I understand you had a biopsy today. I'll say a prayer that the biopsy is negative.

My wife and I have both had positive biopsies in the past though and we are both still doing just fine.

Anything I can do help?

Is declaring that this country would be a better place if the Jews would just convert to Christianity just someone professing her faith?

Perhpas, but others would disagree.

Warning, Ann doesn't like liberals, so this is likely an unacceptable concept

The Citizens of the United States of America have a right to applaud themselves for having given to mankind examples of an enlarged and liberal policy: a policy worthy of imitation. All possess alike liberty of conscience and immunities of citizenship It is now no more that toleration is spoken of, as if it was by the indulgence of one class of people, that another enjoyed the exercise of their inherent natural rights. For happily the Government of the United States, which gives to bigotry no sanction, to persecution no assistance requires only that they who live under its protection should demean themselves as good citizens, in giving it on all occasions their effectual support.

A liberal said that to Jews. Imagine.

Demean themselves as good citizens, they don't have to be Christian's to make this a better nation after all.

Shame on Ann and her supporters.

You are disingenuous in not acknowledging what you have been told by several people - that unlike the other monotheistic religions Judaism does not require conversion as a prerequisite to an afterlife.

Further the concept of “chosen” which appears to inflame you is often referred to comically by Jews as - chosen for what? In the theological it is chosen to receive both the blessing and burden of the Torah. In the cosmic sense is choseness such a great deal? Is it really advantageous that God expects more from you? Do you feel deprived of the chance to impress him if only you had been given the chance Jews have? Is that any kind of goal?

I can say that I admire the logic of Judaism since it neatly overcomes the accident of birth. In Christianity one is faced with the prospect of losing the afterlife by mere accident of birth which is a tremendous undermining of the concept of free will. Judaism largely overcomes that.

Your problem is that you are unable to separate the personal from the theological. I venture to say that many practicing Jews may believe their way of life to be superior. They may also like their house better than their neighbors, think their dog smarter, and their wife prettier. So what?

Jewish people do not consider Jesus to be king of anything. He was the son of Mary and Joseph. His beliefs were those of a good man trying to help mankind.

I'm content to wait until such time that you can take it up with Him, and I suspect it won't be long.

Boy, she can probably kiss her ongoing success goodbye … The first I heard about this is when I was jumping around between conservative hot talk, and landed on the Savage Nation show where I was listening to some of the tapes of what she actually said. Now I haven’t purchased any of her books, but I was thinking of picking up a copy of her latest “If Democrats Had Any Brains, They’d Be Republicans”, but just listening to five minutes of what she said there is no doubt that she’s lacking something in brains herself to be so stupid to even go there. If she wants to be a Christian Priestess instead of a “Republican” (I assume she identifies as a “Republican” in that the premise of disparity brainpower is to compare in terms of Republican verse Democrat), that’s fine, but if you want to be a political commentator it really isn’t very smart to start sounding like Ahmad-I-Nejad while doing it. I really don’t need anyone to get into the nuisances of Christian doctrine to try and explain what she said, I’m not interested nor interested in anyone who would be so stupid as to even go there the way she did.

Savage screaming on is besides the matter, that had nor does have anything to do with my reaction when I heard her actual words, and let me clarify I am not a Jew, but for that matter I am not a Christian, either. This woman simply has too many eccentricities to survive this game, and now that we are living in these times of conflict with Islamic Fascism, for this little quirk to even go there says more about her wanting attention and some sort of Herrenvolk dark side, she’s gone off on more than a few fellow conservative hosts, she takes things too personal – and this has nothing to do with Media Matters fools. This isn’t really the war we want to get conservatives into to, we have much more important wars to battle instead of going down this idiocy that she has now embarrassed the Republicans and conservatives with in general. I am really not interested in her religion, that is – her perspective on her religion or how one should become perfect by contrasting this one’s perfection against another’s less than perfection, please . . . And please, don’t try to explain to me what Jesus said.

You know, I love and admire this handsome and beautiful Jesus, and though I do not call myself a “Christian”, I know inside that if the actual Jesus came to California Bay Area and I heard the words of Jesus, and saw the bravery of Jesus, understood the torture of Jesus, why I would follow this man. And, I sort of got a hunch that Ann would not. Instead, she would find some way to come up with some really stupid way to get attention to herself by using Jesus as a whipping boy for some really stupid joke or side bar. She certainly wouldn’t follow him.

There are ways you say certain things when discussing such important spiritual matters. The way she spoke is NOT the way Jesus would have spoken or did speak. Please do not quote me Jesus with some quote about the path to heaven or hell, the fact of the matter is there is a time and place to speak religion and of the spirit, and a means and manner in how to do it – certainly you should not be laughing and smirking while telling someone else what they need to do to be perfect. What a total moran this idiot is, she actually insulted Jesus and all Christians by putting on this manner as part of her national pastime for external display, and an incredible moral laxity in regards to really getting the message across to anyone . She has a fatal compulsion to smirk. What an idiot of display and indulgence in herself – I suppose she can go into the business of selling indulgences instead of books. Perhaps it would suit her better.

Frankly, the very tone in the way she mentioned these weighty matters struck me as coming from the mouth of a harlot.
