Ann Coulter Shocks Cable TV Show, Declaring 'Jews Need to Be Perfected by Becoming Christians'
FOX ^ | 10/11/07 | Unknown

Slash-and-burn columnist Ann Coulter shocked a cable TV talk-show audience Monday when she declared that Jews need to be "perfected" by becoming Christians, and that America would be better off if everyone were Christian.

Coulter made the remarkable statements during an often heated appearance to promote her new book on advertising guru Danny Deutsch's CNBC show "The Big Idea."

In response to a question from Deutsch asking Coulter if "it would be better if we were all Christian," the controversial columnist responded: "Yes."

"We should all be Christian?" Deutsch repeated.

"Yes," Coulter responded, asking Deutsch, who is Jewish, if he would like to "come to church with me."

Deutsch, pressing Coulter further, asked, "We should just throw Judaism away and we should all be Christians?" She responded: "Yeah."

Coulter deflected Deutsch's assertion that her comments were anti-Semitic, matter-of-factly telling the show's obviously upset host, "That is what Christians consider themselves: perfected Jews."

If Jews want to be offended by Christians they will be no matter what is said.

She said nothing of the sort and you know it. She said this would be a better place if everyone was Christians. She was not singling out Jews who only make up 5% of the Country. The interviewer was who brought up Judaism with his phony outrage.

Even if you ignore the Salvation part of the issue, what religion has done more for the needy than Christians. It is our calling and churches as well as ministries have helped billions of people worldwide. That alone makes her statement true.

How is it that Jews do not see Jesus as the Messiah when he fulfilled all of the 400 prophesies??

Pray for W and Our Troops

Wow, I’m totally amazed that Ann Coulter would be dating Andrew Stein. It would be hard to imagine a couple further apart in political ideology, religion (Stein is pretty much a JINO), age, and even IQ (I have it from a confidential source that Stein isn’t the sharpest pencil in the drawer.). Stein comes from a very wealthy background, so it is said. Seems that Coulter is losing credibility with her base if the talk about her and Stein in the gossip media is true.

How about “hey, you like what you do, I like what I do. That’s cool.”

I hear ya. ...and that describes the Jewish mindset regarding those in other religions to a tee. That's why there's no proselytizing in Judaism. If Jews believed there were souls to be saved from a hellish eternity they'd undoubtedly be as enthusiastic about converting the world as Christians are. But they don't, so they aren't.

Dearest Alouette, G-d is not punishing you! Psalm 18 for you tonight, dear one. My heartfelt prayers go out on your behalf. May you rest in His arms and take comfort in His sheltering love.

You are correct: the headline on your Fox News article does not reflect accurately what AC said in the transcript. She never used the word "need", which would imply some kind of coercion.

From this Jewish perpective, this whole thing is a tempest in a teapot. AC was not saying anything antisemitic, though she did exhibit some brazenness and insensitivity when she invited Deutsch, whom she knew was Jewish, to come to church with her. Jews are forbidden (because of historical reasons) to attend services in houses of worship other than synagogues.

BTW, if this whole episode is so "shocking", why did it take three days from the airing of the CNN show until FOX News decided to come out with an article about it?

From here

Even in the Reagan years, when tax cuts were the order of the day, most Jews stayed loyal to the Democrats. With 38 percent, Reagan drew more Jewish support than any other Republican running for president since early in the 20th century (and double what George W. Bush drew), and many of those who voted for him subsequently swung back to Democratic candidates.

Bush got 19% of the Jewish vote. On the average, 80% of Jews vote for the demonrats. It's ridiculous.

but Christians believe that Jesus is the promised Messiah spoken of by the Jewish prophets, and that He represents the fullfilment of the Old Testament Covenantal promise.

I have no problem if she had said the above because that is the absolute truth according to us Christians but she went much more than that and started talking about "perfecting the Jews" if they convert to Christianity, it is very wrong to say this in a political interview or in a political debate.

If I may ask why you write G-d instead of God or GOD? Why you do not fully write the name? Thank you.

Exactly. What’s the big deal? Even Dennis Prager, a religious Jew, says that if one really believes his religion is good, worthy, true, etc. will try to share with others so they come to the same point of view.

In other words, “duh?” I never get offended if a Jehovah’s Witness tries to steer me his way because he’s just doing what he thinks is right. That doesn’t offend me. Now, I’m sure I’ve offended a few of them, alright, when I tell them they are way, way off course, and have the scripture to back it up. They’re not used to people who actually know why they believe what they believe and can discuss Christian apologetics in a simple way.

Your comparison is not legitimate. The Bible says to “speak the truth in love” and we, as Christians, are exhorted to go out into the world and preach the Gospel of Christ. My brother got angry at me about 20 years ago for talking about Jesus and wanted me to promise I’d never bring it up. I told him that was impossible, as it was my duty to bring it up and I’m going to obey God. I try to be loving.

Telling people they are a fat slob is not speaking the truth in love. However, there are times when one is showing love by telling someone they have a bad odor, or even that they need to lose weight (as I just did to my hubby last night).

Ann might have been more loving though. I didn’t hear how she said it so can’t comment.

Ann was just fine. It's the ones screaming against her who are the haters.

What makes you say that?

Big deal. It’s pretty much a restatement of what the apostle Paul wrote in Romans 9 and 10.

Not really a problem. There is a “true Christian”, whatever it is, and if we all were one of them the world would be a better place.

It’s not the joining of a common demonination that would lead to a “better place”. It would be the fact of an entire world of humans all in a right relationship with God.

There is no chance of that this side of the end. We are not destined to be universally saved. And we are not destined to live in a peaceful heaven on earth world.
